The RAND Corporation

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

The RAND Corporation

Post by Dr. Strangelove »

I used to be a member here, but then I left for a while, and forgot my password in the process, even then though, I mostly lurked and didn't post any of my designs.

So, I'm starting a thread for all of my designs since Crysis fried my good computer and I've got nothing better to do.

The RAND Corporation

<backstory under construction>

The America MKI:

The America is the RAND Corporation's command ship. It is in the very beginning of prototype development and probably won't be decent until its gone over at least one or two major redesigns.

Progress has started on the Command Bridge:

Image

The forward plasma torpedo launcher is actually <insert name of futuristic very powerful bomb here> warhead launcher and is the ship's most powerful weapon, but has an extremely slow rate of fire.

Has anybody even thought of setting the minimum radius and the damage settings really high to make a nuke launcher out of the plasma charge thingy before?

EDIT: Latest progress, for more info read my latest post in this thread:

Yep. Tried doing the nuke thing in one of my unposted ships.
Welcome back the the forums!
I have a problem with the size of your ship. Its to small to be a flagship.
Also, some of the colours are too dark, and there is quite a bit of repetition.
Some questions for you to answer-
Are the weapons modified?
Do you plan to up the size? If not, your other ships will have to be alot smaller considering the is your idea on the size of a flagship.
Are you planning to place any modules? If not, you would require alot more weapons.
Are you planning to add more weapons?

This is only The Command Bridge. :P

I'm hoping to make it bigger than that one Anna did a long while ago that stands unbeaten as the largest ship ever. Its going to tough doing it and not just spamming the same pattern over and over again. :D

Yup. Place the nuke closer to the core, give it a long range and a large firing arc. Set bullet speed to 200. Set Explosion Increase to zero, fuse variance to 0. The Minimum explosion is up to you. Set the deviation to 1 or somewhere around that value. Explosion colour is up to ou.

Then, test it on Nagaya or the Leviathan.

*KABOOM*

And there you have it.
*Yum, Nanz taste like chicken!*

Lol. When I was asking for ideas I meant about the color scheme.

When this ship is finished, that will be close to the core

Oh...Sorry.
For me, I chose a black and yellow scheme, with a red outline.

bl3d4, how does that have anything to do with his question, which was "got any better ideas for the colour scheme"? Oh, it doesn't. This is just bl3d4 posting worthless nonsense spam again. And so shortly after being unbanned for it.

I'd suggest Light Greys and assorted shades of Blue, personally. Maybe a mid-shade of grey and orange? I dunno, just throwing out some ideas. Looking fairly decent, so far, although it's cluttered in places. The rows of rounded sections on each side don't look good at all, though.

ANOUNCEMENT

The multi-gigaton warhead launcher has been removed due to problems involving the bomb 'fizzling out'.

Research into this problem is being made on a terrestrial craft, the B-52G:

B-52 doesn't have 767-400ER/777-200LR/773ER/787/747-8 style raked wingtips but it's damned smart to do so
