EDIT: I figure may as well throw a little backstory in here, though there's not much of it.

The Empire of Iryia is a relatively young nation controlling only a single star system, of which 4 worlds are inhabited; Iryia itself, Arcta, Arcta Prime, and Raemus. The Iryian sun goes by the name Luma, and it is relatively similar to the Terran sun. The government is headed by King William Fontaine, emperor of the entire empire. For the past 150 years, the nation of Iryia has enjoyed a reign of peace, and as such has a relatively small wartime navy. Recently, however, more and more stories (Like the disaster at Theta Facility and the sighting of the Zeus. http://www.wyrdysm.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1063) have been emerging evidencing a rapid modernization of the Iryian fighting force. The government has denied an outright war preparaion, but the verity of these statements is questionable. It appears as if those 150 years may be drawing to an end.

Iryian ship design is relatively unique due to their relatively low supplies compared to other nations like the New Eden, Aralonia, and the IVL. The ships of the Royal Navy usually are of a smaller stature than their other counterparts, and are more lightly armored and armed as well. Iryian numbers are also relatively small, and they appear to be a small threat in the wide scheme of things, but they do have two factors to their advantage. Iryia has very advanced beamer technology, seen in weapons like the Artemis' Golden Arrow and the Meridian Prime, Meridian II, and Magnifier's Hammer of Ascension weapons. Iryian monitors are also more common than the monitors of other nations, and tend to be equally powerful, though smaller in stature.

Known Issues:
-Blowing up all 5 cores doesn't make the ship explode. Sorry, couldn't replicate that in BSF. Ctrl+MB it when its cores are gone.
-Lasers don't hit the cores like they do in Gradius. Couldn't replicate that either.
-The Beacon's blue lasers don't bounce. I put the Rorschach on the back and modded its stats to allow it four deploys, but there were some problems. First, allied lasers don't reflect on the Rorschachs, second, the module's unaffected by custom stats and only allows one deploy anyway. I'm leaving it on for now depending on whether or not it's supposed to affect allied lasers or not.
-When four out of five cores are destroyed, the center pieces are supposed to explode. Best I could replicate it was by attaching one centerpiece to each inner core of the four.
-When the centerpieces are gone, the Beacon has back-up guns above and below the main core. Can't replicate back-up guns in BSF.
-It's missing two antanae-thingies. I'll fix that later. >_>

I've made some changes to my fleet, nothing has been changed in terms of ship design, I just rebalanced them a bit and reorganized the files for easier unpacking after download.

Hi all! This is my first post here!

I'd like to submit my fleet (these are the .shp files) under the Original Ship/Fleet category. I just discovered this game and it's totally amazing! (I'm from Singapore too!)

Note: I re-uploaded the original .zip file, but I'm not sure if it overwrote the older file. Does it?

Edit: Squeezing in some last-minute submissions into the fleet. :) Updated the .ZIP file again. It also contains all the Empty-Hull versions of my fleet for... 'target practice'.

A little fluff:
The Entomeda-Pax Matriarchy is an offshoot branch of the human race. Having been cut off for centuries, this subspecies has evolved into a matriarchal society where every member has a limited psychic link to the next member of their kin, and are all ultimately connected to the Matriach, a ruling figure who is chosen both through her psychic strength as well as common consent across the hundred-world Matriarchy.

A massive civil war broke out in their recent history, as two Matriarchs were chosen by exactly half the population each. As the war escalated, so did their technological advancements. By the end of the war, fully half the Entomeda-Pax Matriarchy was destroyed. The survivors rallied under the surviving Matriach, who vowed never to allow such bloodshed to occur again, and thus began the Golden Age of the Matriarchy. The Armada is the visible military might of that Golden Age.

Their shipbuilding strongly influenced by the sacred records of their home-world's (Earth) insect life (having lost all known contact, this is the last vestige of their knowledge of Earth), they have built an impressive armada as they journey across the hazardous stretches of space in their search of their Origin.

I've only got about 8 ships at the moment, but I'll get a few more designs out if I can. I've been busy tweaking them for 'balance' (amongst themselves.) so hopefully it'll be a fun fleet to play with.

Here's an introduction to each ship with fluff (for those interested).
Note: Squadron Size means the recommended number of ships to put into play per 'squad' when placing them on the field.

Name - Hornet

Classification - Pterygota-class Fighter Drone
Squadron Size - 2-3
Description - The first fighter ship to be designed for basic space travel, the Hornet was a 1-man fighter. Having gone through countless redesigns and refinements, the Hornet now serves as an autonomous drone support fighter with its Breakwing Stinger (Lancet) and Venom Cannon (Frosch). Its offensive power is nominal at best, but with enough Hornets in a swarm wearing down enemy modules, even large space stations have something to worry about.

Classification - Parasite-class Harrier
Squadron Size - 3
Description - During the Civil War, tacticians on both sides found that most of their capital ships were falling prey to swarms of Hornet drones, their primary systems being destroyed long before they even came into contact with the enemy, resulting in protracted, horrible wars of attrition. In order to combat this, a superior Interceptor had to be designed to counter the Hornet threat. Thus the Tick was born. It is a short-ranged but extremely aggressive interceptor suitable for destroying both fighters and harassing slower-moving larger ships. Although both itself and its guns are fragile, the Tick is so fast and maneuverable that not many weapons can accurately track one.

Classification - Predator-class Destroyer
Squadron Size - 1-2
Description - Designed originally as a picket-ship to act as a screen for incoming fighters, the Mantis is a formidable foe for its size. Rugged, nimble and versatile, this ship is able to take on ships many times its size and give them a bloody nose before being destroyed. It is equipped with a battery of Mandible-class anti-fighter lasers as well as the heavier Pincer-class Beamers, and two standard Blasters for fire support. However care should still be taken as its primary systems are mostly located within the arms and well defended as they are, the captain of a Mantis should not hesitate to turn tail if the battle turns sour.

Name - Staghorn

Classification - Coleoptera-class Defense Corvette
Squadron Size - 1-2
Description - As the wars raged on and the Assassin Cruiser made its first appearance, defense tacticians lamented the fact that many of their fleets were, although heavily shielded and protected, unable to close the distance with the super-heavy Assassin Cruisers before being torn to shreds. Desperate for a solution, some turned to the Rhino Support Corvette (not included in this pack) as an interim solution. Compact and heavily armoured for the purpose of performing repairs in the battlefield, the Rhino was retrofitted with a massive 'Shield Vane' which shunted a significant percentage of the Rhino's power output into multiple shield generators as well as a Carapace (Aegis) Generator mounted near the front, which then created a near-impervious field at the end of the 'horn'. Rechristened the 'Staghorn', it was pressed into service as a mobile barrier for battlefleets to close with Assassin Cruisers before engaging them. After the war, the Staghorn continued service in a refined design, and although its repair capabilities are somewhat diminished, it is a Godsend when facing a superior force.

Classification - Perdition-class Broadside Cruiser
Squadron Size - 1-2
Description - An Entomedian take on a classic battlefield tactic, the Dragonfly Broadside Cruiser is a deadly foe you don't want to see the side of. If the four Hive-class Plasma Launchers (Goslings) weren't enough of a deterrent, several heavily shielded 'wings' on each side carry a deadly barrage of Chrysalis-class Railguns, Proboscis-class Light Beamers, Positor-class Mega Beamers, and Swarm Missile batteries. Although sluggish, each Dragonfly is capable of surprisingly fast turns, allowing for a broadside from each side as the other recharges. Its only main weakness is the single support strut holding the Bow and Aft sections together, which is also heavily protected. However a canny fleet commander can force the deflectors away from the strut before letting loose a punishing blow, or utilizing weapons with high penetration abilities to render the Dragonfly useless. The original Mk I. version suffered from, among other design flaws, a crippling inability to bring its Mega Beamers to bear after the front portion of the Dragonfly had passed, limiting its use severely.

Classification - Mayfly-class Tactical Bomber
Squadron Size - 2
Description - The classification is a bit of a misnomer. The Cicada Bomber is another classic example of Entomedian improvisation during the Civil War. Originally built with a missile payload, the Cicada was put into service as a Capital Ship killer and performed excellently at its role. Fast, tough and nimble, it took its toll on enemy fleets until the arrival of the Strider Carrier and its impressive compliment of anti-projectile defenses. Its missile payload rendered obsolete, the Cicada was hastily redesigned instead to carry two Proboscis-class Heavy Beamers. Front-firing, immobile supercannons, the Proboscis Beamers were able to punch through the Strider Carrier's ultraheavy shielding and tear holes in the soft, vulnerable superstructure beneath.

However, in a tradeoff for its ability to tackle most capital ships, the Cicada's supercannon design often confuses its somewhat outdated deflector software, rendering it unable to shunt shield power to the more important areas. Its 'pincered' armoured plates are often the only things keeping the Cicada in one piece, earning it a notorious reputation for its inability to take on anything but capital ships, effectively becoming cannon fodder for everything else. Its 'Mayfly' classification was born from an old pilot's joke: "Pilot one day, dead the very same day."

Classification - Matriach-class Heavy Cruiser
Squadron Size - 1
Description - The ultimate of its type, the Assassin Heavy Cruiser is the most feared sight on the battlefield. An almost unstoppable juggernaut of overwhelming firepower, the Assassin can simultaneously engage and defeat two of any lesser capital/corvette class ships, or six or more Hornet/Tick fighters. Ponderously slow, the Assassin is feared for its huge built-in support arsenal including a Scarab-class Gravity Generator and Venom Sting. It is equipped for almost any engagement possibility and should only be approached from behind, if humanly possible.

Classification - Myiasis-class Carrier
Squadron Size - 1
Description - The Mothership. With enough power output rivalling a small sun, the Strider Carrier's only goal is to overwhelm an enemy force in a deluge of drones and fighters while maintaining the ability to absorb huge amounts of punishment in order to provide cover for its fleet. Often used as the command ship for many Entomeda-Pax fleet commanders, its survivability is unmatched by any other ship in the Armada. It is armed only with two Positor-class Heavy Beamers which fire only from the prow, but it is covered with enough point-defenses to send a solid wall of intercepting fire towards any enemy foolish enough to attempt firing on it. The command core is nestled heavily within the hull, with only the Dragonfly a close second in protection, and the entire Carrier has enough shielding to hold off even an Assassin long enough for reinforcements to arrive. Multiple Carapace field generators provide supremely adequate protection for both the Core Shielding (two sections built in front of the core) and the frontal support struts, the two most likely places to bear the brunt of any attack.

However the ship is far from perfect. The requirements for its original specifications were so preposterous that designers were unable to find a way to build a single frame in orbit that wouldn't tear itself apart from gravitational stresses, and eventually settled for a modular design that allowed for the superstructure to be easily completed in deep space. The armour plating planned for the ship was so heavy no reasonable number of thrusters could be built to compensate for the initial push required to overcome its inertial resistance and thus was sacrificed and compensated for with redundant shield generators. At the end, the resulting ship was one that easily lost 50% of its total offensive capabilities should the shielding be breached and the supporting strut destroyed. Cautious commanders should make sure the rear hull should never be exposed to enemy fire if possible, as the Carapace (Aegis) generators that protect them are housed there.

Note: For role playing reasons, the Strider either has a complement of 6 Ticks or 4 Hornets. Of course it can easily defend itself with its drones alone, although I don't know the key commands for launching all simultaneously yet.

Name - Rhodendra Platform

Classification - Overlord-class Nest Base
Description - The Rhodendra Platform is the Entomeda-Pax's solution to extended space-borne operations. Designed to simulate the conditions of their homeworld, the Rhodendra is a massive planetoid, dwarfing almost everything else the Armada has in its fleet. Zealously protected by those who call it home, the Rhodendra is the Armada's home away from home. Serving as both a shipyard and colony ship for frontier colony-worlds, these highly-prized platforms are few and far between.

Classification - Entomeda-Pax Matriach's Throneship
Description - Singularly the largest ship in the Entomeda-Pax Matriarchy, the Antlion Throneship is not a regular ship as such, but instead serves the rare distinction of being the Matriach's personal command ship. Requiring the resources of an entire planet to construct, there should only be one such ship in service at all times, guarded by the most loyal and elite of the Armada's forces, a veritable cloud of ships one must pass through to even catch a glimpse of the Throneship.

In all of the Matriarchy's history, there has only been one recorded incident where two of these ships existed, and that was during the Civil War. It was a terrible price paid to destroy that one single ship, where six capital ships (3 Assassins, 3 Striders) in tandem with the remainder of the supposed 'Victory Fleet' performed a coordinate suicide attack on the Antlion Throneship, sacrificing themselves by ramming the Throneship, bringing down its defenses long enough for the surviving fleet to disable and destroy it.

As opulent and majestic on the inside as it is intimidating and impenetrable on the outside, the Throneship rivals even the Rhodendron Platform in size and function. Despite its seeming lack of weaponry, only the most advanced in weaponry was installed, giving the ship an unrivaled edge in attack power. Chief amongst these is the rightly feared 'Entomeda-class Corridor Beam', a single coherent beam of such intense destructive power it has been known to destroy an unshielded Assassin in a single blow. Its appearance on the battlefield is, however, thankfully rare as the need for its use is almost nonexistent.

You need to change them either in the game (Options menu) or in the bfconfig.ini file.

You also need to make the changes BEFORE starting on a ship because SM2 is a little wonky when it comes to ship colours. :?

In SM2 you can still change the color technically, you just have to remember which color = which if you plan to change midway into the creation. Rather bothersome sometimes.

Backstory GO: The Ravana is the charge of an infamous privateer, self-styled 'Captain' Galil. Almost as little is known about the ship as is known about the man himself. What is apparent is that a number of ex-IVL vessels were canniblaized to construct the Ravana, most notably segments of a War Clockwork VI-class superdreadnought and several smaller pieces of War Clockwork VII and Velvet Hammer vessels. The ship's superstructure and design are entirely unlike anything the IVL ever built while it was in existence. The Ravana features none of the heavy linear accelerators the standard War Clockwork VI mounts, yet all the secondary weapons are present. Where the IVL ships traditionally present their armored broadsides towards a target, the Ravana is at home fighting from almost any direction, though it can bring maximum heavy beam cannon firepower to bear from the front. Thankfully the turreted heavy beams do not have quite the magnitude of the spinal weapons on the War Clockwork VI class ship. As it stands, the Ravana is already massively overgunned for a pirate vessel. It is apparent that by placing the projectors in turrets, the heavy beam weapons have only a fraction of their output. It could also be an indicator of the nonstandard reactor configuration straining to deal with the energy heavy load.

The Ravana has a distributed design that is truly extraordinary, with multiple semiarticulated weapon 'limbs' instead of the solid hull-and-gunpods design of the IVL. Evidence collected indicates that much of the current configuration of the Ravana is by the invention of this Captain Galil. Combat reports that there are little measures taken beyond the inclusion of standard deflector devices to shield the vulnerable armatures, so ships under attack from the Ravana should direct their fire towards them. Additionally note that the Ravana's drive and engine systems seem to be of a foreign design and configuration, giving the very large ship remarkable grace and maneuverability. Until we have captured this Captain Galil and his rogue ship, we will not know for sure who he is, where he is from, and how his vessel does what it does. Heavy elements are to close the range and engage him at point-blank with superior quality weapons, while light craft are to flee immediately. Ships without heavy deflectors are prone to defeat at his hands.
