Ta for pointing out the mirroring error, I've now gotten rid of it (admitedly by replacing it with another much bigger, uglier overlap, but you can't have everything).

Yeah, the cyan guns were a bit much, I've changed them to a much more suitable grey. I was trying to get a gradient sort of an effect with the colouring, but I think I tried too large a range - I've made it a lot more subtle now. I like "Aquila" as a name - it shall be so
I've changed the back and the front a bit, for better or for worse, and added some more weapons. I decided against aegis. A couple of things to note:
-the dual autocannons on the back are actually dual blasters, just with a changed sprite. I wanted the blasters to look a bit beefier.
-ranges on the scatterbeams and pulse guns have been tweaked to 500 (the Aquila has a normal ai with a range of 450).
-the scatterbeam and pulse gun on each side have been linked together.
In terms of balancing, the ship is weak against long range concentrations of fire. Four Aquilas were quite capable of taking out four Hestias, but were roundly thrashed by three Onezones and a Hestia Alpha (mainly the Onezones - the Hestia Alpha was only really there for cannon fodder).
