G.D.F. Fleet -Terran Division-

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

The ship isn't brilliant but this won't help him: YOU JUST MARKED THE WHOLE F***ING SHIP AS CLUTTERED.
Sorry magick but you are acting like a jerk.

I can't be truthful? When did that rule get approved?

The ship is basically a giant rock of clutter with two flimsy, long struts sticking out.

Your acting like Anna without the skills to back it up so yes you can say whatever you want about his ships but he or others can also label your comments asinine and useless :P

Could part of the 'clutter' be that he made the struts fold into the main body, thus the sections aren't meant to fit together well? I'll grant that the barrel could be more creative but we've had this discussion before and a barrel isn't meant to do much besides fling shit at you.

Haven't read the whole thread so sorry if you said whether you did this, but will those blue arcs move, like a Jacobs ladder? It would look sick, especially if the frequency increased as it gets closer to firing.

1)Yeah, that could be it.

2) I didn't say the barrel wasn't creative, i said it was extremely flimsy.

According to other people, of course, i'm not intelligent enough to act like Anna.

Edit: Shit, do you have to attack my comments wherever i go?

I can easily concur with Magick in saying that most of the ship is a mess of cluttered, monochrome sections.

Some of the section usage in the main fuselage is quite bad, though it could probably be saved by some cleanup and proper shading. The depthed weapons are well-placed, but I really don't like the way the they've been colored with the same drab, uninspiring shade of gray as the rest of the ship. I'm pretty damn sure that leaving them in their default colors would make them look better-- more contrast that way, better than lolgraybrick. And that shade of orange isn't too pleasing either, especially not on the weapons.

Overall it needs work. It isn't completely terrible or horribly noobish, but still doesn't pass mustard. Mainly on the colors-- try some shading around the middle part of the ship. You'll probably learn proper section usage with time.

Well, flimsy I guess yes, my bad for misreading that.

How would I lower the clutter of the back section.
What I tried to do was lay down smaller, thinner sections to make kinda like a skeleton then I fleshed it out with the bigger parts and weapons.

Also the cannon struts really aren't so flimsy, there's a double row of Girder sections under the large plates along with the sections lining the inside of the barrel.

@jwa8402: I tried something similar to that but I personally did not like the way it came out.

@EriErin: By shading do you mean lightening the color of the sections the closer they are to the main block?

Return of the Vigilance.

Mostly redone design, New Colors, Complete rearmament.

I shaded as much as I thought (personally) looked good, and I cleaned up some of the clutter in the rear section/

I like the new ship much better although:
Aegis isn't cool, just not fun. Try a nano matrix on the shields instead.
Red colours are just too bright.
Some guns aren't coloured and others are, why?

@maarten: I wanted some to be inconspicuous-ish (Ala Star Trek phaser banks) And some to be the big intimidation weapons (Ala Modern Battleships)

@Squishy: ?

Turned down the red, changed the shields, added fake aegis as a 0-range nano matrix to each.

Just some tips to make it look even better:
Tweak the shields 2 colours to blend in with eachother, slichtly darker for the inner one I suggest.
Since you recoloured the guns already make the vulcans in the back a slightly darker colour, just slightly so they don't stand out like a sore thumb.

Btw the engine injection sprites(atleast that's what I think) are super cool.

Err, Custom Sprites? What area are you guys talking about?

And the shields are actually 4 sections (Front left - right. Rear Left - Right) of flat grey TBE shields with the aegis set to red. Ill just set the base color darker and it should get the same effect.

This section doesn't look familiar to me. I thought it was custom.
And does the shield have 2, 4 or 8 nano's?

Ive got a single modded nano for each section, low range and repair rate set to 1.
