Tempest Exemption Star Fleet
I haven't played BSF for quite a long time now. I'm finally playing it again and I am going to be posting an Entirely new fleet. The TESF are a branch of my clan's military...as of now. I have created only a few ships of the Fleet. The light fighters are pretty strong with the machine guns and small missiles. I have to revamp a CL (Light Cruiser) and fit it with more powerful Sabot Cannons, other than that, I expect the first release within the week.

What exactly is the problem? You crop the pictures, save them as .pngs, upload them to photobucket, and post the image code... Your going to have to be specific if your having trouble.
Also, stop being dumb you guys. You keep saying you hope it doesn't end up in the hall of shame, yet you yourselves are the ones posting useless comments. Help the guy or don't post and one of the mods will deal with it appropriately. Because of you, this thread has more posts than alot of noob posts needing feedback.

I realize that the ships are small. The ships are not supposed to be huge, these are the light ships of the fleet. The left side is the actual {TE} Fleet while the right has two ships of the known alien fleet. These ships are the main fast attack forces of the {TE} Fleet. These are meant for rapid reaction forces to threats upon the colonies of the Tempest Exemption Republic and its Allies, along side the PT Boats and Fast Attack Frigates comes the fighters and bombers designated the F-801 'Wasp' Light Fighter and the B-90 'Locust' Light Bomber. They are the main Fighter/Bomber Forces of the {TE} Fleet. They are due for a retirement soon as they are old and quickly becoming obsolete.

Stretching is horrible looking. Use multiple sections covering the same area. Not only does it look better than stretching the section, it causes the ship to be somewhat tougher.
The frigate on the left seems overarmed, and all of them seem to have the cores exposed. Colors on all ships seem dull and uninteresting.
Colors can wait until this batch of ships are fixed up.

The Frigate isn't necessarily overarmed, Its a PT Boat. It has a strong armament for taking on big ships, but isnt very strong in its defenses. The Colors for some reason got screwed up its supposed to be Dark Gray and Red. Like I said though, these ships are meant to be obsolete. The stretching..well Im kinda of only a decent ship maker, but I tried to make it look as best as possible. Thank you for the tip though. I am also starting work on my Flagship.BizzarreCoyote wrote:Stretching is horrible looking. Use multiple sections covering the same area. I would like to comment on the seeming lack of unity in structure style for a fleet. The frigate seems to be a large pod-shaped ship, while others seem to have outriggers/wings. I'm not getting a huge feel of cohesion here. That and the shapes aren't particularly interesting, although in my opinion smaller ships are harder to design that way. The wings on the fighters look decent. However, thruster usage is weird if you don't use them across all the ships. As not a lot of sections went into these ships, I'll refrain from commenting on depthing. Section usage also comes into play here. Typically alien and blocky pieces don't come together well in a ship, as here. The styles clash and I can't really get a feel of the entire ship.
As BizzarreCoyote wrote up there, the stretching is also ugly. Furthermore, the exposed core is unrealistic and also kinda ugly. Although it makes a little sense gameplay-wise if you want a way to bypass shielding, the blue dot is really quite ugly, and I suggest you cover it with at least a section if you have to leave it exposed.
It's a good start, and it's not completely horrible, but there is much room for improvement. There's a great many things you didn't screw up, like color, which I'm assuming looks better in SM than with glow on. It's not eyeburn, so that's good. I suggest you work on shape and section usage a bit before progressing to less important aesthetics, though.

Insert wittiness here.

Thanks for the tips, the fleet though, is not supposed to look alike. For me every ship in the fleet has to be unique with its own weaknesses and strengths. Such as the Higgins Class PT Boat. It has high firepower for taking out Capital Ships, but low defensive capabilities so it is easy prey for enemy fighters. Thrusters I have to say, are something I hate. They don't really fit my style of ship building. I'm trying to find an alternative, any suggestions?Coriolis wrote:I would like to comment on the seeming lack of unity in structure style for a fleet.
