Hello once more, this time with a turret... If you remember

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Hello once more, this time with a turret... If you remember

Post by fusion »

Well, some may remember me, but most won't or have pushed me away... (I was never really active to begin with) :o

Anyways I have comeback after a very long hiatus to .sb4, so I decide to have a crack at it...

Here is a turret that I just created, I just want to know how that looks inside the game (because my good computer is fried and the one that I am using only has 16mb of graphics...)

So yes, Any help will be welcome. Thanks....

Here is the turret at ready to fire mode

Image

Here is the turret at full recoil...

Hopeful I got all the triggers correct...

Anyways enjoy The Turret

P.S. there are weapons there...

No offense, but this doesn't really deserve its own thread.

Load from sb3? You can't open sb3s.

You just set yourself both an expectation and a deadline. Genius.
I give you... 2 hours, which would be 8:20 where I am, sufficiently late enough to qualify as night. Go.
ADDENDUM: To compensate for alternate timezones, you have an extra hour.

Very fruity colour-scheme ya have there fusion :)

I have to say, i'm thoroughly impressed with your turret, (functions very well), but it wasnt really clear in your post that the large central block was the rotating turret. What really impressed me was the way you used the weapon (forgot it's name) to make a sort of helical snail trail-laser path. Very original!

Not to knock fusion again, but I think you need to look around a bit more if this thoroughly impresses you.

I will give him credit on the Driver snake though.

Well, lets wag the dog with my next post....

The following ships were created by criminals because of Catch-22...

The criminals had no choice but to create the ships. Whoever was part of the design team was a criminal charged with bad design. Whoever was a criminal who was charged with bad design had to take LSD. Whoever was a criminal who took LSD had to design ships as part of their punishment... Thus, the vicious cycle grew; from small ships to ever larger and more insane designs...

Here I present the ships of the criminals of Catch 22 forced on by Admiral Peabrain...

Small defensive corvette:

Missile corvette:

Well... Why the ships are so Small...

This project started a long time ago right when sb3 came out as I felt that everyone's ship was just a wank fest. So I started this project. I will not say that I did not fall into that hole, after all hyperion is just one of the biggest wank fest ever while being tiny....

So I hope you enjoy the failed fruits of labor...

If you even want to download it : Link

I know, I know, those ships were made a very long time ago, as I have said before... I just uploaded them as they were...

Anyways I fixed the major problem with the turret, I didn't parent the arms/ barrels to the block, thus didn't turn with the turret, so now I have come back with a turret, that actually works...

Later I will build a ship around this turret and place it in this thread...

So anyhow, the turret is now a turret: Link[url]

Can someone actually try out the turret... Please... Pretty please... With Batty eyelashes please...

Ok. First thing you should work on and only this for now. Is your choice of colors .... try .... Grey and Blue or something.

Second of all. Do not overstretch sections. It's ugly. Try using more sections then just one overstretched one.

Well there is several good reasons why I would not be going back to my fleet:

First I would need to go and get Sb3 first...

Second the color scheme is my preference due to the back story....

Third Double plus good thing is that the ships are so tiny you wouldn't be able to see it... :D

Fourth, well, the crazy railgunner (danny, I think is his name) has similar color preference...

Meaning that I wouldn't change the colors, but I will and did change the fact that I stretched my pieces....

1: You don't have to go back and fix old ships. Apply the suggestions to new ships.

2: I can't stop you from using these colors but their honestly .... horrible. Just my opinion but it's shared by the majority.

@Slayer: Seeing someone that looks new to triggers starting off with a turret i find impressive in that they were able to pick it up reasonably quickly. On the other hand, something like EriErins Nanz battlestation :o would be impressive on the grounds of skill and dedication.

@Fusion: I gotta agree with lizzie on the colour scheme. At the moment the fleet looks like a gathering of clown cars  . Looking at your backstory, if you were going for chatoic ships with poor design, broken bits, gears hanging out:

Check out LordGarcias work with broken sections

Or Kaelis' work on steampunk sections

Or even try some asymmetry
