Consortium Battlefleet 2009
Soo... Now that there's custom sections, I can finally make exactly what I want to make. And what I want to make is this.
The Sachumodo- class Cruiser is a common sight in Consortium space, if you stay outside the main shipping lines.
These ominous vessels patrol systems, scanning and controlling intrusions and asteroid colonies. Perhaps strange considering the design is partly focused on long range and self-reliance, this vessel actually doubles as a massive blockade runner. Since most of the hull is occupied by generator farms and plating, a slim body and strong shielding makes it almost unstoppable from one direction. However, the drive area is rather vulnerable, and the hull has to be sparse and light due to the gravity-warping effects of scalar wave shielding.
The Battlefleet is proud of this utilitarian, two-faced vessel - true to their design philosophy, it's a war machine that kills two birds with every stone.
Blueprint/Overview:
Next update will probably be small ships. What do you think? Too rickety?

And what you make is sweet. At last, a proper 0.9 ship.Cycerin wrote:Soo... Now that there's custom sections, I can finally make exactly what I want to make. And what I want to make is this.
Great sense of depth/perspective youve got going on there. Those hexagons truly look like a proper armor plating. The glow is a neat touch that adds even more substance. Props for making your own sprites (and scaled down versions of those sprites!), would be nice if you shared them. And lovely blueprint, too!
It reminds me of hovercraft from Matrix universe (Nebuchadnezzar etc).
My only complaint is that the 'drive array' looks random compared to the rest of ship, and very fragile at that. Well, that, and the fact that there are just too many gaps in the ship for my taste; it really looks like it should be solid in its entirety.
You know what would be neat? Making those hexagons glow and shimmer.
The ship itself, IMO, is ugly, filled with holes, and fragile looking, and the color scheme makes it look as if it were covered in moss.
But, the 3D effect is rather very cool. 8) It kind of offsets the moss-covered corn cob shape.

Thanks for the appreciation, guys. The fact that it looks jumbled and fragile is intentional. This is a blockade runner designed for speed, the massive shield generator "corncobs" protecting it while it rushes forward. I considered filling the holes, but I personally like how it looks somewhat fragile.
Most likely, the other ships won't be so penisbricky. I like to make fat ships.
As for the sections, they're kinda what I use to define my style. So if you have to steal that style, wait for the fleet download.

Tons of blur and spread on any section with fake aegis, very low alpha.I'm curious: How'd you get that underglow behind those hex sections?
