Custom Ships Archive #1

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

It's working fine now. And it wasn't just your pictures, it was all of photobucket... and let me just say, those are some very awesome looking ships.

I may download them. But, But I would then tone down the weaponry.

I see your point Da Higg, I'm a fan of bigass broadside volleys, not faffing around with little turrets, but I realise that in particular, the propraetors and inquisitors guns are way to frequent for their size. Those were the first two ships I made, and I wasn't too experienced (I'm still not - I downloaded BSF about a week ago! :D )

Seraph - Thanks much! I personally hated my Baroque and Inquisitor, but I thought of beauty vs practicality. In the space era ships should be built to kill other ships, not look dashing and beautiful (does an aircraft carrier look as nice as a Lambo?) That's what I thought anyway! :D

However I was very pleased with the Amaclyne and Tetrithydan. I was planning to do a proper Imperator, but looking at that one NoverCalis posted I am in a temporary state of awe, and suddenly feel very...very... small.

They seem pretty big compaired to the games ships for frigate class... and they are kind of powerful compaired to the premade ships. as i found from play testing them, auto balancing for the win! http://www.wyrdysm.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=526

Id like to nerf the range on the Drone frigates Point defence.
I really like the look of these frigates. Functional and straightfoward, but elegant. Do you have cruisers built in the same style?

Edit: @Exethalion: >.< Don't need to feel that way! You are more than capable of making better ships! My ISD may look pretty, but ultimately it is just a big hunk of RAM-hogging pixels bolted together.. Not to mention its armament is completely IMBA.. Sure, blowing up entire enemy fleets with it make be fun, but only for so long. That is why I really respect people who can make ships which look good, AND play well. At most, my ISD is merely is merely a showcase for a different stlye of shipmaking, and not a terribly novel one at that. Don't let it overwhelm you! :)

I was thinking about making a whole line of Kuat Drive yards ships, so if I wind up making the Imperator, it will be much smaller, since I'm planning to make all the big star dreadnoughts. Don't worry, I've got over my little pansy moment now!

Next KDY ship will be the Quaestor.

Considering the fact that my thread is another page, I'll just post my ships here I guess for a little bit.

This is Spade, a big ship I built, while waiting for something to load. If you guys want, I can just give you the hull, the arnament was for the fun of it.

Oh, just 600 damage. You know, the usual. Just wanting to test my other ships hull integrity.

I love how you fit '600' and 'usual' in the same statement.

I try Boba. Those point beams are also super kicky - 20 shots each.

Introducing...

The latest warship to emerge from the Rothanan shipyards of the KDY corporation...

Serving on behalf of the Galactic Consortion...

The Quaestor class Star Dreadnought

Image

Upon first view, the obvious advantage of this ship is the shielded flanks. The six generator pylons supply 6000GW of shielding for every kilometre of hull, allowing the dozens of blaster cannons, pulse turrets and particle guns to overwhelm enemies without danger of counter-attack.

Situated behind the protective barrier they create, the Aegis Cores are invulnerable to the majority of attack patterns enemies can throw at them.

Thick armour plating surrounds the central core, requiring exhausting volleys of firepower to even put the Quaestor under moderate threat.

The ship is mostly armed with pulse and blaster weaponry, in standard, gatling and special forms.

However, the huge emhasis on armanent and flank protection sacrifice stability and defence of the rear of the ship. Protected by a handful of point-defence particle guns, the propulsion systems and special modules are very vulnerable to fast attack ships, and the Quaestor's sluggish turning speed and velocity mean that smaller escort craft are essential for the dreadnought to operate effeciently.

A Quaestor overwhelms an Alien dreadnought with concentrated pulse and blaster volleys, near the Kuat system.

This ship is the 3rd in my Kuat Drive Yards series, and will be included in my next ship pack, so shaddup and wait!

"A fresh start for a classic gunslinger..." was the marketing slogan for KDY's latest design - A refurbished and vastly improved Inquisitor model, designated the Mark-II.

The ship - re-classified as battlecruiser to meet the growing number of ships filling the upper-end classes - features a completely redesigned hull, and altered weaponry allowing for maximum effeciency in broadside capital exchanges without compromising protection from smaller craft.

The Inquisitor-II class Star Battlecruiser

Basically, this is my correction for the hurrendous parenting of the original Inquisitor, and since there is no way to change a section's parent, I decided to start from scratch, since the hull looked like it had been chucked together randomly anyway.

I have gone with an emphasis on blasters and pulses like the Quaestor, and scaled down point-defence from flak to particle. No aegis are used (apart from a few for visual effect near the core), just standard deflectors, meaning the defence of the ship is still respectable.

It handles well in capital exchanges, and can quickly annhilate most frigates and destroyers, but suffers from innacurate volleys, and an exposed stern, so can succumb to fast-attacks.

An Inquisitor-II uses it's ability to engage broadside volleys on both flanks to full potential, keeping the larger enemy force at bay.

4th KDY ship, to be included in the next pack!

It's not built to handle ships that huge. xD Do I need to make a new deluxe size station for people's custom huge ships?
