Delta's Andromeda factions and assorted stuff

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

The weapons are shrunk. Also, since I didnt find your comment funny, do try to stick to critisism not comedy.

There are a lot of ships here, so I'll just say what I do and don't like at the fleet level:
-Continue with the detailed engines on your lager ships, however, if you are going to do engines for some ships, you need at least something on them all.
-Use less section stretching. Your fighters and corvette suffer a lot from it. Try to find more creative ways to get the effect you want rather than uber stretching. Also, less stretching on weapons.
-Use more than one color. Simply put, one color ships are ugly as hell. You need to come up with some kind of color scheme. Anything. I want color.
-Take more time with layering. You are currently highlighting sections that don't look very good to start with. Take for example the Krill; That top section makes me want to cry. Put something on top of that mess.
-Not liking the beamers on the sections 2/3's. Just doesn't look good. Try something else that you can shrink to oblivion and hide.
-Spend more time on the backs of your ships; there are some really sloppy ships there that look like you just didn't try that much. Put more effort on the aft part of your ships.

The best ships in this fleet are the Heron, SparrowHawk, and NightHawk (upgrade). Try to bring your other ships up to that level. Take your time and do a good job.

In regards to the laughable tyrade on the laws of physics: I DO BELIEVE ITS A SCI FI GAME SIRS!

Now, onto the ships; for the most part I agree with FIREST0RM000, and think that the nighthawk upgrade is the best of them, just try to watch some of the layering on the other ships or use that layering to your advantage to create a 3D effect.

There's a difference between bending the rules and breaking utterly them in several places. :P

~~

1) Use more than 2 tones of grey. I know, I know, it's not easy. But it's a massive improvement, trust me. I personally use 4-5 (white, light grey, grey, dark grey, darker grey) shades discounting faction colour markings and whatnot.

2) The fleet... doesn't really feel coherent. The ships don't all follow the same general hull design theme at all. For example, some lack the engines and have little or no colour compared to counterparts.

3) As it is, the Pelican looks silly, but not in the same way as it's namesake. It might make a decent battlecruiser, if you ditch some of the blue spikes and the superfluous red lines on the wings.

4) The sparrowhawk's 'wings' look ridiculous, and the midsection is too large if you ask me.

5) The fighters and bombers are rather bland, for fighters and bombers. They don't 'look' even vaguely like something I would associate with a fighter or bomber.

6) The names are fairly incoherent as well. It may just be me, but in a couple of cases, they don't make sense at all. Especially the Beak. If you wanted a suitable avian-related name, go for "Roc". Though they're only from myth, they are big and menacing. Calling it "Beak" is only going to make your enemies laugh at you before they open fire. :P

Indeed, Roc suits that ship perfectly.

I like the Eagle...I think some of the other ships suffer from overused parts sticking out by themselves. 18s and 3s for instance. I like what you did with light gray/dark gray contrasts for depth, but the ships that also have other colors are better. I will try the download and comment further after, thanks for putting it up.

And execution aside, there is work being done that says an object traveling close enough to the speed of light generates a narrow beam gravitational force which can accelerate an object in front of it and negate many of the typical negative effects, with the beam getting stronger the closer the first object gets to the SOL. So its very feasible that with some reworking, the ship could be a booster for another ship which could then accelerate even closer to the SOL without being subject to many of its laws. There are actually plans to send cargo between planets this way. Not saying I understand it but its a potential base for your story, if you want.

The Shift-Tac Consortium.

In the year 2904, Thomas Shift was a 2nd Rear Admiral in the Galactic Reserve Navy. The GRN was at war with a massive pirate organisation. The war was bloody. Entire star system's were glassed, their planets melting into molten hellholes. The galaxy was tearing itself in half.

When the war ended, in 2915, Thomas Shift was a Fleet Admiral, having commanded and fought his way through 27 Campaigns against the pirates. He was renowned, for in his downtime he had drawn up blueprints of new battleships for the GRN and they had been used rather successfully.

However, after 4 years of peace, he was bored. Terribly so. Of course, there was always insurrections amongst the planets which needed to be put down but, he eventually began to question his leader's motives. He began to feed rare ship resources like Xenomit to the underground resistances of each planet.

Whilst this had been happening, 16 star systems that were of considerable importance in the GRN had formed a large, unbreakable Mutual Defense Pact. They went for stage to stage, eventually forming the Interstellar Defense Assosiation.

In 2921, Thomas Shift's vessel was in spacedock when it was inspected by the GRN. They found that over half of the Xenomit the starship was designated to carry was gone, and that there was communication logs with known underground resistance movements upon the planets of the IDA.

On the 26th of March, 2921, Shift was tried for treason against the GRN and for aiding rebels. He pleaded guilty, stating that he was proud of what he had done. Astounded at this comment, Shift was sentenced to death via pulse engine. He would be fed into the intake engine slowly the following day.

His crew, however, raided the containment house in which Shift was held, and freed him. They all retook Shift's Command ship, the Paradox and fled to a rebel asteroid base on the outskirts of the Ilani system.

There, Shift began to work on designs for a new fleet. The Shift-tac fleet. Shift-tac (tactical) was born on that day.

On the 8th November, 2922, The Ilani system's capital, Ilani Prime, was taken by force by Shift-Tac forces, their ships swarming the defenders with powerful charges and forcing them to retreat. The ships glassed all the cities, but being careful not to take out any industrial facilities they invaded on the ground.

The designs Shift had been working on were then produced by the hundreds. Shift-tac was now a player in the Alpha quadrant of the Galaxy.

*****************

The Shift-Tac Carrier is a powerful vessel when used in conjunction with other vessels, it can put out an amazing amount of firepower with it's drone launchers but needs to be protected by other ships to work properly.

Image

The Shift-Tac Battlecruiser is optimised mainly for attacking larger targets. This is what made it so effective at the battle of Ilani. It needs support to function better but is a powerful beast, boasting a new beam-based weapon and a quartret of Heavy Battle cannons.

#1. You don't need Irfanview for .pngs. MSPaint converts to .png without any visible loss in quality, for BSF screens.

#2. Jesus you still have zero concept of when outlining looks good and when it's just frivolous or wrong.

#3. FLUFFY PINK ENGINES WHAT!?

The problems with this are too numerous to list. Let's just say "it's shit" and leave it at that, shall we?

Meh. Tremendous wall of text.

*skips*

The outlining on those ships is kinda superfluous-- you shouldn't make decks that large or that... formless.

And you should really try to use more than two shades of grey outside of outlining-- here it's just a vast plain of solid grey with a small white patch that presumably represents the bridge.

And then there's the marking colors. I really, really dislike the asymmetrical color scheme, with the fact that the jpg compression makes the blue look like crap and all. The doodads apparently used to create some of the markings are pretty ugly as well.

Besides the disconcerting rectangular pink engine flames and the apparent mirroring error on the battlecruiser, there's no other criticism I can give it.

Perhaps I would improve if you actually listed all the problems...
Also, I don't appreciate the put-downs you and the other mods keep giving me. C&C is fine, just as long as it doesn't insult or otherwise provoke me... :|

He did say some of the things wrong with it such as your horrible outlining and fluffy pink engines. You're just too fucking stupid to deduct this from what he said, or you're too busy being a whiny bitch about how he's talking to you about it.

As for put-downs. That was hardly a put-down. In fact it was rather mild compared to what I've seen him say to people. If you want a put-down I can deliver there.

Fuck you. Let me be clear, I don't have to be nice to you, and your whiny bitch attitude and your complete lack of improvement despite being told what the problems are on several occasions don't incline me to be goddamn polite in my criticism. But y'know what? I have a better idea.

You get to have your thread locked until Christmas day. I will not unlock it until then, and I will delete any attempts you make to start a new thread. During this time, perhaps you can work on your ship design a little. None of the problems that have been pointed out in the past have been fixed, so you can work on them.

I'll post additional constructive criticism when I have the time.
