Noctis's work Currently Mechanist Fleet (clockwork)

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

The Horus

How is this Bovine?

any better?

Also...um mods... can that whole thing about no macro's be kinda...lifted on me? I think I've proven that I can make funny ones that also get straight to the point. I'd just like to have the option open every now and again.
Or to use them as emoticons similar to this?

I would imagine the biggest complaint about the macros is posting them in other people's threads...Your more likely to get somewhere asking to post them in your own thread. Or as AD suggested, make a whole thread and it will be stickied and you can update it when you make a new one. Just a suggestion.

I like the ship even though its mostly one piece. Maybe add more detail to it.

Much better, although a few sections around the centerline are layered funny. You did hit the repetition problem this time, but I know you'll fix that fast.

yeah, realized suddenly that that thing is made almost entirely of section 2s. I'm building onto it right now actually. Hopefully it will turn out well eh?

So far this is what I have.

Expand on the rear. Wait... that... thing on the left. Elongate the prongs a little, maybe do the same on the right side.

Usage of smilies is okay, even if they're your own. Anything that is not a smiley will be mashed down your throat with a toilet brush. The warning will be inserted somewhere else, but this is a decent board, so no mentioning that. So go ahead with those things like the one up there.

Too much repetition.

Assuming smiles means Emoticons

Also, check the art thread for a new update and place your bets.

...Do you make ships in Spore? Seriously, I've seen a ship very similar to these, and even used it.

EDIT: Oh, and, nice ships, by the way.

this is what I've been up to lately, mostly just fiddling, trying to get better at making small ships. Chronologically they were created from top to bottom.

general C&C please

well, the first two are generally (relatively, of course)fugly, but the third is not bad, so I'll give C&C on that.

Firstly: Scrap the wings, or expand them forward. There's something just decidedly... off... about them. In general, your engines need work, and the wings simply don't have enough going on to justify existing. They pull your eyes towards them, and break up the shape of the ship a bit, which is good, but they pull your eyes towards something rather uninspiring... it's... not so good :/
Secondly: Do something about the bumpiness of the front. It's very jarring, especially compared to the relatively smooth, angular rear/ middle.
Thirdly: The way that your internal lines are angled so sharply inwards on the rear makes it feel much smaller than it actuallly is. As such, the ship, although not actually being so, feels like it has a wider front than back. I would try and simplify the rear internals, that should help a bit.
Fourthly: Drop the outlining, except POSSIBLY on the bridge. It's unnecessary for a ship this small, and pulls attention to the wrong areas of the ship. On larger ships, it helps draw attention to the more interesting areas. On smaller, it almost feels invasive, as you are ALWAYS looking either directly at or just next to the outlining.
The engines should be redone. Don't have specific advice to give on those, they're just... meh :/
Besides that though, the front of the ship has good use of forced perspective techniques, although it needs cleaning up as well. Generally, these are no where near your best works, although the bottom one does show some hope, although it needs a LOT of cleaning up.

As I said I suck at small ships so this is a learning experience.

I do not like the blue engines, I do not lie them, Sam I Am. Stick with the other engines, they looked good on the body.
