History of the Divine Ones

Thousands of years in the past, a race of humanoids evolved on a world called Veni Thuul. The humanoids advanced rapidly, reaching their industrial period before any other race had even set foot on the land of it's world. The To'Hol Venaari quickly reached the peak of their existence, the discovery of FTL travel, and they used it to great effect for their civilisation.

When the first To'Hol Venaari exploration vessels ventured into the vast expanse, they did a horrifying discovery. The To'Hol Venaari. Were alone. On many worlds, life was found. Animals, bacteria, plants. Some with the potential to become something greater, some destined to stay a lesser race unto the end of their existence. But none so far along the path of evolution that the To'Hol Venaari. Their travels, their exploration, had served little purpose for the curious To'Hol Venaari, who were hoping to find more minds like them.

In time, a group of philosophers on Veri Thuul, calling themselves the Heralds of the New Age, published a book that described their philosophy; the To'Hol Venaari were, according to the book, destined to be the first race to venture into space, and, when the time came for others to do the same, they were to be the dominant species in the universe.

The governement of the To'Hol Venaari (the Directorate of Veri Thuul) was on the brink of falling apart due to the dissapointing findings in deep space.Faced with losing all power they had, the Ministers and Directors of the Directorate openly embraced the Heralds of the New Age, and their imperialistic philosophy. The To'Hol Venaari would work on scientific advancements for the time being, awaiting the rise of other races to dominate. The society of Veri Thuul was slowly reformed into something different.

The idea that the To'Hol Venaari were divine accompanied a whole new way of thinking; the group-minded population dedicated it's life to the evolution and advancement of the To'Hol Venaari as a race, and internal conflicts ceased to exist.

------------------------

Herald Calendar, year 12268

After thousands of years of advancement, the To'Hol Venaari had reached a point upon which they were faced with the inability to advance their own science. The technological of the To'Hol Venaari had superceded their evolution, making some scientific concepts to complex, even for some of their brightest minds. The only way the To'Hol Venaari Technocracy, (established 10000 years previous) could advance further was by waiting for it's biolgical evolution to catch up. Outside Veri Thuul-controlled space, however, some other advanced races were already showing the ability to venture into the orbit of their world, making FTL travel not far ahead.

Faced with the problem of no longer being capable of advancing, the Technocracy made a decision that would sound the start of the treu domination of technology; every citizen was to be cybernetically adapted
to his/her task. Scientists received processor implants, soldiers were transformed into ultra-powerful combat machines, and starship pilots became the ship they were assigned to. After 300 years, every single member of the Technocracy had been mutated into a cybernetic monstrosity, indoctrinated even further into the Herald philosophy by their implants.

And they were ready.

The first race to fall to the Technocracy's lies and dominance were the Scourge. Then known as the Sarralorians, the Scourge were stuck in a constant cycle of destruction and reconstruction, making their technological advancement slow. The Technocracy ended the wars, and the Sarralorians dedicated their lives to the gods from the skies. The Technocracy now had it's minions, and the Age of Domination, had begun.

-------------------------------------------------

Herald Calendar, year 14589

Throughout history, the Technocracy had found several races that were capable to challenge it's divine right of domination. Though all of these cultures were simply ignored or eradicated, a stray Technocracy cruiser picked up signals of another civilisation; the Intergalactic Alliance.

-------------------------------------------------

Herald Calendar, year 14638

The Technocracy is at war. After the destruction of their blasphemic civilisation, the races of Galaxy 19 rebelled. While the Technocracy was concentrating itself on Enlightening other galaxies, these races coördinated an effective resistance against the chosen warriors of the Gods. It is time for the To'Hol Venaari themselves to interfere, and to cast their cleansing will upon these unbelievers. The Gods are rising.
