That, is kind of sad actually.
This thing? No, it's not finished yet. Still working on the front. But thank you.Ixranin wrote:I liked your rendition a lot, though I don't think you've put up a finished version yet.TheBlueEcho wrote:That's one of the most Awesome rendition of the Chainship I've seen, and it don't even look like a ship, much less the chainship.

It still just wouldn't fit as a craft. As a base, yes. As a craft, no.
As it is, I don't want to try meddling with it; my expansions on other people's work, unless on the small scale, are often very obvious and out of place. The most obvious is the body of the Orthus compared to the wings; the body was based on a prototype of Kaelis' that he never finished, and I just tacked on a pair of wings - they look very out of place to me.

well, you fixed that problem
really cool fleet, (congrats on getting ship of the month). Very nice use of engines, and the triangular symmetry (would that be the term?) is one of the most interesting ideas i've seen in a ship, let alone a fleet.
Are you still working on this or have you more or less moved on from it?

Probably the same here. If I wanted to build a starbase out of it, I'd have to start over with the chain ship, else I'd have too much trouble trying to imitate the style with expanding the current version.Arcalane wrote:It still just wouldn't fit as a craft. As a base, yes. As a craft, no.

Actually... I've never done group clone/rotate except with the Gatekeeper. All the Legion ships were built by adding a piece to one arm, then adding the same to the other arm. (Third arm is covered by mirroring.)Piecewise66 wrote:must have been a pain to get perfectly symmetrical like that. though...I do have a theory on how you did....
build a single arm at an angle then group clone and group move then rotate with all children then mirror
I'll see about making some more. I have two that survived functionality testing, but just haven't gotten around to finalizing them.

I must say, those are some VERY impressive ships there! So, do they actually spin, or do you have manually spin them. I just get the spinning image in my head.

Well, there's not much I can say about the inherent awesomeness of the radial design.
The only criticism I can give is to fix the core colours on the original ships; it's a pain, but it'd make things look just that much better.

Yah, they're almost all from soundtracks, though some only use pieces of the titles and others are combinations.Arcalane wrote:So Ixranin, where did you get the names for the ships from? I recognize Nonsense Codon as a track from the G-Darius Soundtrack, and Massive Strokes as a track from the Chaos Legion Soundtrack, but the other ones escape me.
Three new ships passed preliminary testing and have been added to the first post, but still require more tuning before being put into service.
The burst laser on the Fatal Quickening can prove deadly against low-armor targets, and can quickly knock a chunk of ablatives off medium ships.

Now adding long-range bombardment to The Legion's list of abilities.

Issues:
-The Flash Shielding on the Type B Fatal Quickening doesn't work because modding module energy appears to have no effect.
-I'd been trying to develop the Enigmatic Crisis, but I the idea of draining the energy of an Impeder doesn't appear to work.
-Still need to figure out if I'm going to be able to make the Quantum Corridor's Frosch Gun work correctly with the already poor track record of module energy modding.
