(TGE perspective)
Upon arrival of the IVL fleet, TGE tensions were high. After communications were established, Emperor Tevalsh was quick to provide the information requested by the IVL fleet.

The Preservers originated as a group of civilians who were greatly discontented with the nation of Iss'engir placing their previous leader as the head of the Tul'thurian Galactic Empire. They also generally shared the idea that the crashed alien vessel was a failed invasion attempt, or part of a conspiracy for Iss'engir to sieze control of Tul'thare with the TGE. Early on, they resorted primarily to peaceful protests, and the more radical members rarely committed crimes past petty mischief. As such, the Preservers were largely ignored by the TGE ruling bodies, and were left to police forces to deal with.
This attitude changed when the Preservers claimed responsibility for the Dar'denen Heist, where 72 TGE ships were stolen from drydock. Since this event, TGE policy towards the Preservers has been purely hostile, and the Preserver forces always had a sizable number of stolen or copied TGE vessels.
The Preservers have demonstrated a proficiency for secrecy over the years, as few bases have been uncovered while they were still in use, and they seem to prefer basing their main operations outside of TGE space. They have also demonstrated several unique retreat tactics, which have proved highly successful.
The Preserver attitude towards factions other than the TGE or the Scinfaxi seems to be much more relaxed, as they are not xenophobic in general, although they are bordering on it. Due to their current state of being vastly outnumbered after the Treaty of Aldrekt, it is hypothesized that they will seek out other races to ally with to stand more of a chance at wiping out the Scinfaxi and removing the TGE from power on Tul'thare.
Along with the information, the TGE sent a request for a NAP with the IVL. The pact contained no terms aside from the mutual agreement to maintain neutrality, and that the IVL will continue to consider the Preservers as hostiles.
(Preserver perspective)
The diplomats sent to the VSE returned uneventfully, with bad news, but with large amounts of information on VSE ships, politics, and other races, all obtained by passive and light active scans, or through communication with the VSE. Of particular interest was the information on the To'hol Venaari.
Several survivors from the IVL attack made their way back to the High Preserver. The three Gorene cruisers had been the standard rearguard for the convoy, and had stayed out of detection limits until the IVL had left. With such sudden violence recounted by these survivors, the High Preserver declared that the Preservers were now at war with the IVL, in response to the blatant act of war.
With one new enemy and the potential for many more, the High Preserver issued orders to lie low until a new ally could be found, so the the Preservers might survive a conflict with the Scinfaxi.
(OOC) Wow, I really wasn't expecting that response from the IVL. Oh, and to back up the three survivors, the Preservers have a standard procedure of having a rearguard for all fleet formations. This rearguard stays just within detailed sensor range, and will power down weapons and power cores to stay hidden if the main formation is attacked. Passive sensors are only used to determine if it is safe to power back up, and an immediate retreat is called for if the main formation is destroyed or missing, otherwise they will take further orders from the main formation.
