Hey everyone! About a week ago, I made a thread to showcase a ship I made, and in there I promised a fleet within a day or two. Well, to make a long story short, real life sucks and so does procrastination. But you aren't here to listen to me whine about life. You want ships! And thus, I give them.
The United Terran-Grakk'Mar Alliance
It has been 35 years since the start of the Human - Grakk'Mar war. It was long, bloody, and in some test trials of experimental weapons, very unethical and flashy. But, through years of bloodshed and war, we, the Human race, finally came to terms with the Grakk'Mar. A cease-fire led to a loosening on borders. That, in turn, led to trading, and eventually, an Alliance. This Alliance is in it's 7th year of existence now, and it has been decided by a joint panel of Government leaders (the Terran-Grakk'Mar Council, the current ruling body of both races) that a joint Military refreshment is needed to keep the Alliance safe from any unknown threats, domestic and foreign alike. And so, the following ships are the first to be declassified to civilian clearance.
The Monolith-Class Carrier is the successor to the Saber-Class Super Carrier of the Terran-Grakk'Mar war. Although bigger in tonnage and armament, the Monolith-Class has been designated by Command as a Carrier, with some of the top brass trying to change it to Assault Carrier. The reason for all of this is rather simple. The reason it is not a Super Carrier, like the Saber-Class, is because recent advancements in hull super-structures and materials has allowed much larger ships to be constructed. With several different designs for Dreadnoughts on the table, each of which dwarf the Monolith-Class, it was seen as fit to term this giant a regular carrier. The armament it has is an impressive one: 14 AASD (Automated Assault Space Drone) launchers in it's mighty hangar, 6 strategically placed SPDC's (Standard Plasma Discharge Cannon), and two tri-barreled RPDC's (Rapid Plasma Discharge Cannon). To round out this impressive armament, the Monolith-Class Carrier is equipped with 4 MFRNBD's (Mobile Fleet NanoBot Deployers). Although the vessel is slow, and hard to maneuver, the incredibly tough hull allows it to take a beating before going down. This makes the Monolith-Class Carrier the vessel of choice for Commanders looking for some of the best fleet support available, and it has (in a handful of events) proven itself a powerful vessel by itself: one Monolith-Class Carrier withstood an assault from a Grakk'Mar insurgent armada, whilst managing to hurt the enemy badly and hold together until reinforcements could arrive. All these features has made this vessel quite popular with Fleet Commanders, particularly with Grakk'Mar Fleet Commanders (but this is because the Grakk'Mar haven't had access to large-tonnage vessels until the allied with the UEP to form the UT-G'MA).
The Sphinx-Class Cruiser is one of the many replacement vessels for it's older relative from the T-G'M War. The Sphinx-Class was designed to the the successor to the Thompson-Class Cruiser of the given era. During it's time, the Thompson was praised for it's impressive armament, heavy armor, and not so much for it's "brick-in-space" look that so many Captain's disdained. The Sphinx-Class continues the great legacy of the Thompson-Class Cruiser. Although it doesn't feature copious amounts of weaponry, it makes up for this by having it's only two SPDC's mounted on turrets, giving them a 360 degree firing arc. The Sphinx-Class also uses 4 of the new PBDC's (Plasma Beam Discharge Cannon), both of which have impressive firing arcs. This vessel is heavily armored, and is able to take a severe beating before the hull buckles. The only few downsides for the vessel are: 1) The hull is still more of a "brick-in-space" than other vessels. 2) Because it has 4 PBDC's, there is extra drain on the reactor. This allows less on-board weaponry, and thus a somewhat empty looking hull. 3) Because of it's immense size, even utilizing the newest in Grakk'Mar engine technology, it is highly unmaneuverable, thus making the higher firing arcs a necessity for the vessel to survive. Despite these short-comings, the vessel is still a powerful one, and has thusly earned it's place in the hearts of many Fleet Commanders as "the Plasma-Spewing Brick".
The Pharaoh-Class Destroyer is a new type of destroyer. In the past, the roles of a carrier and the roles of a destroyer were never merged into one vessel. However, some of the brighter members of the top brass decided that a more versatile vessel was needed to help reduce the more static ship roles of the past. Thus, the Pharaoh-Class was born. It isn't the toughest ship, nor is she the fastest or prettiest. However, it makes for a useful, multi-purpose destroyer, something Command thinks is necessary for the new fleet.
Kin-Tok - Class Heavy Destroyer
The Kin-Tok - Class of vessel was, in the mind of most humans, a novelty vessel. As is evident by it's design and name, it was primarily designed by the Grakk'Mar. The only reason we can see for it's existence is this: the Grakk'Mar, while a smart group of species, never grasped the fundamentals of making large, armored, and armed vessels. Now that they have joined in with the UEP, the secrets have been unlocked to them. And so, they invented the Kin-Tok - Class Heavy Destroyer. In all fairness to the Grakk'Mar, it is a powerful vessel. It is armed with two over sized SPDC's (Standard Plasma Discharge Cannon), which have the ability to punch through the hull of a vessel and retain enough energy to keep going. It is also armed with several (and standard-sized) SPDC's, and two of the new PBDC's (Plasma Beam Discharge Cannon). The most exciting object on this vessel, however, is the engines. They feature an experimental new type of sub-light drive, which allows this large vessel to keep up with the rest of the fleet.
Scarab-Class Heavy Frigate
The Scarab-Class Heavy Frigate was invented and intended to replace the Krakatoa-Class Destroyer of the Terran-Grakk'Mar War. To it's credit, it does this job well: it features more weapons that are stronger (4 SPDC's, 2 PAC's [Plasma Acceleration Cannon], and two PBDC's) than it's predecessor, it also has tougher armor, and overall better speed and maneuverability. Although the ship itself is not a pretty sight, it is a feared one, mainly because three of them have the power to tear apart a Monolith-Class Carrier.
The Sandstorm-Class Frigate is the "ordinary" Frigate of the new UT-G'MA Fleet. It was designed to fill all the usual roles of a Frigate: Provide fast fire support, escort larger vessels, first-strike ops (usually in tandem with a Carrier and a wing of Fighters/Bombers), etc. To this effect, it does it's job well, as any Fleet Commander would say. The only downside is that it has no specific job. It's not the fastest Frigate around, nor the most heavily armed. However, it does what it was designed to do, and does it better than any other vessel: do the regular Frigate business.
Hieroglyph-Class Space Superiority Frigate
The Hieroglyph-Class SSF (Space Superiority Frigate) is an entirely new breed of Frigate, the whole concept behind it being: the faster we can hit the enemy, and the more firepower we can hit them with, the better. With ships continually getting faster, more maneuverable, and getting better armor, Command decided that a vessel which can out perform every other ship in the fleet is what is needed. Thus, we get the Hieroglyph-Class SSF. Although it has minimal armor, it is armed with 2 RPDC's and 2 PBDC's, and is the fastest warship in the UT-G'MA arsenal. It is also the personal favorite of most Captain's, and it's demand ballooned only days after it's first flight by a non-SpecOps Captain. It is the workhorse of the UT-G'MA fleet, and the most popular vessel by far.
UT-G'MA AF-WPD Vessel
The UT-G'MA AF-WPD (Active Fleet-Wide Point Defense) Vessel was spawned from the popularity of a similar vessel featured in the T-G'M War. This kind of vessel became immensely popular upon Commanders, because it allowed the overwhelming amount of interceptable Grakk'Mar to be intercepted before it could damage the fleet. Now seeing the benefit of freeing up energy from the reactors of larger ships by removing PD weaponry on them, and also from the benefit of being able to focus where the PD is, Command pulled this new vessel out of it's hat. Featuring 4 CPPDC's (Charged Particle Point Defense Cannon) and 2 CBPDC's (Charged Beam Point Defense Cannon), it is almost as mobile as a fighter, allowing fluid Point Defense protection for an entire battle group.
UT-G'MA Fighter and Bomber
During the T-G'M War, the UEP Fighter became one of the most popular vessels in circulation. It was fast, nimble, and only needed a nearby carrier to operate, it was a huge success, and Command recognized the importance of having fighters. Smaller than any warship, but many times larger than drones, they are the quick sting the UT-G'MA needs to quickly win decisive victories. And so, the new generation of fighter was born (shown on the right). On the left is yet another new kind of vessel. During the T-G'M War, many fighters were refit with anti-ship weaponry. This process was costly, and put the fighter into a role it was never meant to fit. So, to remedy the problem, the Bomber was introduced. Firing missiles that fuse the best of Grakk'Mar and Terran technology, they can punch a hole through the toughest enemy hulls. In swarms, and with fighter escort, the Bomber is a feared adversary, and in large numbers, can give Capital ships a run for their money.
And that is it for now! Leave some feedback for the ships so I can see what is working here or not. Thanks for your time!
1 minor necro (I call it this because it got bumped back a page and its been ~1 week since a post was made)
Downgraded every ship's class (well, almost every) to make room for newer, bigger ships (the Super Carrier was hardly bigger than a Cruiser)
I did not, however, fix the Pharaoh's engine-connector struts. I personally think the little spikes coming out of it are cool. However, if it's really a problem, I'll change it
I also added two new ships: the Sandstorm-Class Frigate and the Sphinx-Class Cruiser.
