IVL Fleet Development thread

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

thats a sturdy looking ship. You do miracles with color schemes and layering sections! Interesting use of the 16s...

Keep them In the Same X and Y position. Ex. x100 y100. If you want them to fire in sync, Like the Hades Laser or Flash Cannon(to a degree), they need the same range.
It's a lot more then just that.

Other then color & damage, each of the lasers that make up each of the laser batteries on the hades has the EXACT SAME STATS all across the board. Same range, same reload, same turn speed, ect.
Wicky_42 wrote:Anarki, you could probably download the Hades from the beauty pageant to get an idea for the weapons. On the Hades the gat blasters are damage 100 clipsize 10, 2.3 sec reload, and the missiles are damage 500 clip size 2 reload 16 seconds, so I'd personally expect the same sort of weapon stats on this ship.

So yeah, not stock balanced, but against similar classes of ship good fun. I hope it's not a problem me posting these stats here Lizzie - they are publicly available and Anarki was asking for numbers...
Uh yea, how'd you find out all that? I didn't upload the SM3 file.

You can see those when you click on the turret. It has the damage, clipsize, and reload on it, but not things like turning, deviaton, etc.

Ah. So that's how it goes.

I edited a typo.

Damage doesn't have to be the same, in fact it isn't. Because damage sets the width of the shock beams.

The ideal damage range to overlay a megabeamer is around 10, right?

.The red overlay shockbeamer is 16 damage.
.The white core shockbeamer is 6 damage.
.The mega beamer should be white in color and whatever damage you want to beam to actually do but subtract 22 damage from it.

Intresting.

If your interested, and were on the topic, I did mine like this:
6 ShockBeamers - Damage in order 2,4,6,8,10,12; Range to whatever you perfer.

However, set the Beam Duration to 25 on the SB with Damage of 2, and Subtract 3 for each beamer until you reach the SB with Damage of 12.

So your setup should look like this. Starting with beam 1 to beam 6:
2,4,6,8,10,12 - Damage
25,22,19,16,13,10 - Beam duration

It's Nowhere near the damage Lizzies Beamer can do. But it is easily fixed by bumping up the Burst of the First SB. Or you can make a 7th ShockBeamer with a Dmg of 1 and bump up the burst to whatever you want the damage to be.

Or Add more shockBeamers, and go up the ladder per say; +2 Damage and -3 Beam Duration. However this path will in the end hit you with a brick wall, unless you rework the whole setup from the Begining. And thats a pain. Plus theres the fact that the beam is also getting bigger, and that isn't always better.

I'm guessing that'll give a cool widening beam with a nice escalating damage output? Would look mint with a nice colour gradient... Damn, now I need to go and play with beams, lol

One small point, am I right in saying that stretching the weapon vertically make the beam wider? So you could use normal beamers each shrunk a little bit to get the same effect (albeit with a more messy sprite)?

Actually it go's the opposite way: Shrinking Beam with Desending Damage. Still nice to look at.

I'm experimenting with installing drive cores into IVL ships, using a hidden thruster module for generating the effect of knocking down the various maneuverability stats of the ships if their engines are destroyed. Because I'll admit, watching a Hades missing all it's engines still chargeing a target at full speed is ridiculous looking.

Tell me what you think of the drive cores. I'm still iffy on them.

I love the core drives. But, then again, I just love shiny things :).

It's a pretty cool effect, and it's a good way to disguise the thrusters.

Before anyone asks, yes, I have Lizzie's permission to post this ship here.

News Update:
In an unexpected act, the Seraphim Industries United Systems has solidified its political and economical relations with the IVL, with the construction of a new ship, using some of their most advanced technology - albiet toned down in order to be made compatible with IVL technology. President and CEO Aradel Seraphim played an important role in the construction of the vessel, and personally handed over the system codes to Empress Elizabeth A. Brewster the 4th. The ship - Cerberus - is the only of its kind, and is quite likely now the most potent force in the IVL military...

Hey Lizzie, you planning to release a build of your fleet any time soon? I really like the look of your ships, and it would be good to have a complete fleet to benchmark my own efforts against :)
