The Novelty Weapon Collection

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

The Novelty Weapon Collection

Post by Normandy »

Basically, this is a thread dedicated to collecting custom weapon(s) that you never thought you could create from the set of weapons given to you (e.g. the Sidwes Buzzsaw).

I already have a few good ideas in my head, but unfortunately I have to go to sleep soon and can't make them right now.

Included in my planned set of weapons:
Plasma Blade - basically a twist on the Sidwes Buzzsaw, plus my own too-good-for-my-own-good ingenuity
Plasma Torpedo - This really depends on if plasma launchers hit your own ships... I have an awful idea for this one...
Warp Ray - This is more theoretical, but I'm going to see what happens when you play around with magazine sizes...
Rail-Gun Beam - Pretty Self Explanitory
Scatter Rockets - Not really novelty anymore, but still nonetheless, cool.

EDIT: Unfortunately, only the Rail-Gun Beam and the Scatter Rockets worked. And the Rail-Gun Beam is over-powered and the Scatter Rockets were already invented. Nonetheless, I also, in the process, came up with the coolest ship you'll ever find.

Hey, run by me that Plasma Blade idea, okay?

I know what problems I ran into while making the Driver Blade(the thing that looks, acts, and sounds like an energy saw), so I can help you iron out any bugs.

It took me like, 10+ revisions to get the Driver Blade right.

I got bored and built a mine a while back.

4 mining beams with 0 reload and a shot deviation of 30. It's amusing to watch them start up.

I was building a drill ship based sorta on the Chainblade. Ramming it into space stations is heaps o' fun, but I've still gotta tweak around the ranges.

Your drill is the drill that will pierce the heavens?

I have created kind of a plasma blade that really lagged my computer but,
I changed a weasel turret and set its fire rate to epicly high and its reload and clip size high also. It makes this bouncing blade thing of some sort.
(this is from memory but i am at school so i can't test it right now.)

The links to my first set of ships.

The High Yield Torpedo is probably the most fun with a ship I have ever had... I'll let you figure out this one for yourself...
And the Loadout contains the Rail-Gun beam and the scatter rockets.

The HYT reminds me off my Matter/Anti-Matter Missles... only cooler looking, and designed better. :D Very nice.

EDIT:

Damn those things are nice!

Image

At 1103 hours this morning, the experimental Deicide-class Battleship Caliburn was targeted by four strange torpedoes of unknown origin. Sounded on all sides, the Caliburn shot down three of the four missles, but was unable to destroy the fourth in time. A large section of the Caliburn's port hull was blown apart by the foreign Missile. Over five-hundred of the crew died instantaneously. Approximately one-hundred others are also severely injured.

Officials are calling this a grievous and cowardly act of terrorism, and Seraphim Industries CEO, Aradel Seraphim, has vowed to hunt down those responsible for the attack and bring them swiftly to justice. In other news, the--

I figured it out.

The piece at the front is connected to everything else, and has 1 HP. The gun is there to ensure the enemy loses at least one rougue piece that will hit the HYT, and cause it to explode.

Something odd about those HYTs; my ship has a bank of gattling pulses and a laser and was able to take 'em out (safely) quickly. What exactly is it that gives the ship such a bang ?

Edit: Scratch that, it must've just been some fluke.

not much of a custom weapon, but an awesome offensive tactic nonetheless...

tell it to attach something, then crtl+d it halfway to the enemy vessel.

Sweet HYTs.

I made a similar weapon to the Nuke and HYT, the Kinetic Missile:

Image

The Kinetic Missile was developed as a relatively inexpensive way to deliver massive damage, and consequently became a favourite of terrorists everywhere. Lacking in any explosives, it must be destroyed by enemy fire to be set off. It keeps the price down though. The mechanism is extremely simple; the momentum of the missile at destruction is transferred into the tiny pellets carried by the missile. Since the mass of an individual pellet is much lower than the missile as a whole, the velocities attained by the pellets enable them to deal tremendous damage, in fact passing through the enemy ship entirely. This gives the Kinetic Missile the properties of both a shotgun and a railgun.
