Anonymous is Legion!
Moderators: th15, Moderators
It is the things that they do to their followers that sets them far apart from most current 'religions'.
They're right up in the top with them who have practices that are detrimental to the lively-hood of those under them, except these guys also go out of their way to aggressively destroy people who voice public criticism (IE suppressive persons) as well as breaking into government/corporate property to obtain documents.

Okay, sounds like Scientology is just one big, bloated sekte (I think that's the word, at least in bloody Dutch). But yes, it worries me. However, I think Anonymous is just it's adversary, and equivalent, judging from their...ad... which reminds of movies like SAW.

That sounds more like the Mormons, IMO.T-002 wrote:Because they are the epitome of evil. Don't know about the first two, but the catholic church does not have the best of track records. Crusades anyone? Though catholocism at least attempts to be peace-loving. sorta... I think... is it?

Yeah. Last thing I heard Catholics didn't have to pay to be Catholic. Also, there are masses of people who are Catholic and retain good bonds with their family. About the killing...wolfy wrote:Müg wrote:Sounds kinda like Catholicism with fewer followers.T-002 wrote:Because they are the epitome of evil. I meant Scientologists also kill their own kind. Lisa McPherson, for example. In the Middle Ages (I think) you'd only get killed if you wasn't Catholic.
So, not really that much alike.

2) Converted or born-again catholics tend to not like people of other religions as much. It's just a trend.

Which ad, the synth voice on a cloudy day background or the Guy Fawkes mask?ArcaneDude wrote:Okay, sounds like Scientology is just one big, bloated sekte (I think that's the word, at least in bloody Dutch). Either a way, it's a good publicity hook... and looks scary to internet-fearing, Fox-News watching rednecks

I had one video that showed a very good description of Anonymous, where the woman said that they're not just evil or good but pretty much a panoply of everything and anything, more the collective (if chaotic) will of "teh interwebs" than a single cause. Project Chanology is just one facet of it.
As for why they're going after the CoS in particular, I direct you here.
I honestly can't tell if that was a brilliant joke, a brilliant truth, or just plain trollery.Sounds kinda like Catholicism with fewer followers.
Either way it's hilarious

But I digress - The Vatican recently ordered a cut-off of aid to a charity organization that supported abortions for rape victims, while Scientology has forced members to have abortions.
Large mainstream religions in general need a thorough shakedown (or tactical nuking) in my opinion, but most are so ingrained into modern societies that the CoS is an easier target and it's more realistic to believe that they could be felled by anything less than global warfare. Oh, and most Christian sects, barring a few cults that ended up being raided by the military, haven't gone out of their way to kill people in the past couple hundred years. The Church of Scientology once tried to get their harrassment policy written off as a constitutional right

Lastly, the thing that legally makes the CoS a cult in most countries is that they hold copywrite to their texts and bill people through the nose to read them (you don't have to pay more to "unlock" verses of the Bible like it's bonus content in freaking console game).
