In particular, User Account Control may interfere with the game having access to it's own data files. Retarded, I know.

To turn off UAC, go to Control Panel>User Accounts>Turn User Account Control on or off
Don't do that - you are turning off system-wide security and you don't need to. Just go to Properties of the .exe file and under the compatibility tab check the box that says "Run as administrator". It worked for me.

UAC is a pain in the ass, anyway.

"Vista has detected that you are trying to run an .exe file. Would you like to allow this .exe file to run? I know you just double clicked on it, but are you SURE you want to run it? Really? Are you administrator? Only administrators are allowed to run .exe files, you know. I can't let you do that, Dave."

And the scary thing is, I'm only exaggerating a little bit.

Is it possible to make it so that weapons and components don't automatically scale up when you change certain stats?

The missile launcher has gone :cry: and the crazy blue dot has returned :)

Edit: missile back, blue dot gone.

v0.79f is up. It fixes the bug that prevent Boosters from re-targeting properly.

Many Cores. However, it crashes the game if you try to load it.

Yeah I was noticing this earlier. It seems to be related to the seventh core (diagonal base) but it may just be an ordering bug that's totally unrelated. I know in at least one case, scrolling up on the weapon editor from the blaster caused it. When I scrolled up again (to the Missile Launcher) then back down, it skipped the core and went to the blaster. Up from the blaster and it went back to the missile launcher, as if the blue core never existed as a menu option.

@Captain Trek

You got your wish. Battleships Forever v0.64 was included on the cover disc of PC PowerPlay issue 142. (September 2007)

There is a new (seventh) core available in the latest shipmaker. It's simply the standard starbase core, rotated 45 degrees.

They're automatic. If destroyed, they lop off two points of your Acceleration score, which I really think isn't enough.

Of course, while it poses a disadvantage, it does allow you to make your ships have higher acceleration and speed scores! :P

Down to a minimum of 2, so it doesn't harm slower vessels. :(

What exactly changed between 0.97e and 0.97f? I don't see a changelog.

Could you make the AIs for allied ships in Leviathan, Grinder, Raid and Sandbox as effective as they are in Blockade? That would be wonderful.
