I think the one question that should be asked that hasn't is:

how can I help?

A: Have the author(s) set up a paypal account for donations for whatever need be (most likley soon enough server costs, thanks to Games For WIndows Magazine)

What If I want to help make the game?

A: thats between you and the author(s) but I suggest if you can help out with a sequel (as I assume this is just a portfolio game not a acutal full fleged one) especially if you know how to do netcoding

I don't think th15 is allowed to take donations. Part of the gaming license he's working with, it's non-profit.

Really? I don't think so, it's not considered paying for the product.

Hosting donations aren't the same as, say, actually charging money for the game. :)

Exactly. Wikipedia requests donations all the time, and they get away with it because there's no "premium content" only for donators

I can't see anything wrongw ith donations. Many free projects with even more strictly free terms (e.g. GNU GPL) make money from donations.

Edited in a question about part/flak arcs that seems to get asked relatively frequently.

Q: How do I target Boosters and Aegis Deflectors in Shipmaker?

A: Select the Aegis Deflector or Booster Module, hover the cursor over the target section, then hit the T key.

Yea but the T key causes the ship to scroll.

The background scrolls, not the ship. It's a minor problem of the "T" key also being assigned to "scroll background up". :?
