Re: Zalausai's Ships and Ship Ideas
A new ship under construction for the HLB. It utilizes the new buzzsaw trick. It is strictly melee (with some flak guns for PD).
Those arms do move and follow their target.

Open to critique and comment. Please take the lack of color and doodads into consideration as that step is still ahead.

Re: Zalausai's Ships and Ship Ideas
The ship is mostly complete. The articulated arms had to be discarded, so they are stationary when deployed. Apparently triggered moving parts and turrets do not get along.
I am pleased with the appearance of the arms and sawblades. I do like the "heated metal" look.
The weapon functions fairly well. More work and testing is needed. Here is the current version.

Re: Zalausai's Ships and Ship Ideas
Inspired by Doogie12's Arasaw.
I actually like this ship, even though its style does not fit with anything else that I have done before.
Zalasaw

HP:1500
Armament:
Superheavy violet particle accelerator cannon x 8
Particle Gun x 12
Not meant for DGW
Zalausai Edit: I have never seen then need to create a new thread for my ships, so this thread has become the largest one in the ship gallery (number of replies). Most of them are me releasing even more ships, but it still is quite large. Although I am tempted to create a thread specifically for the animated trigger ships, I think they will be put here instead. That way this thread will serve as a time capsule for newbies. Is there a limit to the number of replies that a thread can hold?

Re: Zalausai's Ships and Ship Ideas
Everything aside from the center sections looks a bit too dark.
Aside from that, I think it would look better if the front was a bit wider or at least more rectangular.

Re: Zalausai's Ships and Ship Ideas
Front end extended slightly, turret blues lightened.
Before (animated image)

After After version download. For the next ship. I will use everything that I know. Triggers, moving parts, turrets, glowballs. . . everything.

Re: Zalausai's Ships and Ship Ideas
On another note, working on something new. Intended for direct control play. Inspired by and similar in mechanics to Doogie12's Insectorak ship. However, it is a test of my skill with the advanced features. It will use everything I know when it is done in one way or another. Something for study by others.
FS 01 Oblivion
Don't you just love its stubby laser arms? It wields deadly lasers. Use caution if your ship is allergic to. . . deadly lasers. FS is the faction acronym, however FS will not be entered into the DGW.
Planned features. . .
Rotary cannon
Weapon acquired target trigger
Weapon fire trigger
Moving sections
Glowballs
Zalausai FASDS section sprites (new)(shown)
Snake tail (shown)
Articulated arms (shown)
Hidden Cannons
Direct Controls
Let's hope that I don't bite off more than I can chew with this one.

Don't forget to give it sparkly assault cannons! They make ships over 9000 times sexier.

Re: Zalausai's Ships and Ship Ideas
How about a flash bolter overlayed with a particle gun? The flash bolter leaves a ghost trail of the projectile and the particle gun makes sparkles. It should look moderately good.

Re: Zalausai's Ships and Ship Ideas
Pulsars do that best. No weapon linking required, and it's the prettiest shot I've ever seen. I can't exactly remember how, but that was the center torpedo for the insectorak.

Re: Zalausai's Ships and Ship Ideas
FS 01 Oblivion is complete. It features everything that I have learned up to now.
Features: Rotary cannon, moving sections, FASDS sections, articulated arms, snake tail, glowballs, and overlayed weapons.
Direct controls
LMB: Arm lasers
MMB: Rotary Cannon
RMB: Sparkly Assault Cannon
Q: Tail Missiles
E: Tail Tip Sparks
HP: 750
Speed: 2.5
Accel: 0.1
Turning: 1
Armament:
"Pinnacle" Rotary Cannon x 1 (DC: MMB)
"Dash Hopes" Laser x 4
"Seal Fate" Laser x 2 (DC: LMB)
"Hammer of Justice" Missile Battery x 12 (DC: Q)
"In like a Lion" Main Cannon x 1 (DC: RMB)
"Out like a Lamb" Pulsar cannon x 1 (DC: E)
The FS faction ships are far too large and powerful for DGW, so FS will never have an entry into that forum game. FS ships will most likely be released in the future, but will never enter the DGW.
Watch the combat test here
Enjoy

Re: Zalausai's Ships and Ship Ideas
Introducing. . .
FS X Quietus
Symbolic of death. The Quietus blade dreadnought, brings the most horrible, yet effective armaments the FS has to offer to bear. Violating most weapons treaties, it uses a unique mixture of cryogenic radiation shells. It irradiates those on board other vessels as it lowers the overall temperature of the ship's hull, making is brittle.
HP: 1250
Speed: 1.25
Turning: 0.5
Accel: 0.05
Armament:
"Rigormortis" Assault Cannon x 9
"Dash Hopes" Laser x 4
Comments and critique are welcome, also with the previous ship (FS 01 Oblivion).

Re: Zalausai's Ships and Ship Ideas
I think the tail bits of the oblivion are very well done, but the front would perhaps match a bit better if it had a cover along the center like the tail bits. At the moment it looks exposed.
The Quietus looks like it was built with two different styles; the busy industrial-ish look of the back doesn't flow that nicely into the relatively clean repetition of the front. Breaking up the repetition at the front a bit might help.
