I´ve been watching this forum for quite some time now and i´ve made use of it as a ressource when i needed it because this is the only board for this great game, but there is one thing which killed it: The people who misunderstand its purpose.
This site is about Battleships Forever, isnt it?
So why is there a reason for all kinds of people here to act completely asocial and agressive.
Didnt you notice all the times people are called idiots, fags ´n stuff like that just because they made a mistake?
Even if a billion of people did this mistake before there is no reason to verbally attack the next person who does it.
Constructive critique is always welcome but nobody wants to be called dumbfuck/idiot/piece of shit/asshole after he uploaded his first creation.

So i think thats pretty much what killed this forum... oh wait:
Theres another point: The administrators supported all of that instead of using their rights to prevent people from abusing each other. In case one of them reads this i have one question: Does this behaviour support the forum in any way?

Battleships Forever RULES

Save your breath. Others have tried - and failed - to 'reform' people here. If people can't stand a little criticism/feedback without getting all whiny but you want to post your ships somewhere, there's the Custom Ships Gallery. People here are jaded when it comes to newbie ships because many of them make the same stupid mistakes we've seen hundreds of times now. That is not hyperbole. Yes, some of us made those mistakes in the past, but you're supposed to learn from mistakes. Either you get booted out of your stupid newbie comfort zone ASAP and start making ships that are nicer (relatively speaking or otherwise), or you make an ass out of yourself and/or wind up leaving the forum. Pretty simple.

BSF is old, now. It's a niché game. th15 has moved on and Kaelis has fucking vanished meaning no more major updates, which means hardly any way to draw attention back to it. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if th15 was disappointed in how the forums and after-0.90 development turned out.

Read this topic. Now quit making things seem worse than they actually are.

I've felt the same way and ranted about this in the past but to be fair, the forum has actually improved. Part of this is because of measures taken by various moderators, and in many ways that worked. Besides that though, alot of the...'harsher' people are no longer active. I can't remember when I last saw the type of slander your talking about, and anything that has been said recently was completely deserved. If you come in and start posting, demanding answers or praise, without looking around first to get an idea or what your talking about or being willing to listen to people who have been around awhile, then you deserve to get your ears boxed by SWS or one of the others... Actually I think the few people who are still active work pretty well together.

These days, I rarely "abuse" people unless they break the rules and act like idiots, for which there's no excuse. If you're too much of a dumbfuck to read the big "THE RULES" board, you deserve it.

EDIT: And frankly, this is nonsense. Most of the people who left appear to have done so because they got bored with the game, not because of the attitude of the forums. Or at least, the people who actually made useful contributions left for that reason. I'm sure a few newbies probably ran away because "bawww they use naughty words and insulted me when I raged over criticism of my ships".

The forum has been changed before. The way we do things has been changed several times. And if someone proposes a bad idea, of course we will reject it.
