GORK! SMASH
Just keep beaming away, burning midgets that decide to block our fire.

Better check out that new Gork! to make sure it doesn't have one of those mind controllers on it!

Also, we keep talking about making the beam stronger in one area to pierce stuff...Do we have a name for a setting where we shoot a wide stream to cover the whole area? If we all do that, seems more efficient.

You take time out of shooting at the swarm to check out the new Gork!. You examine it for any sort of irregularity, and all you find is a white band down it's back. And it's behaving normally, so it hasn't caught whatever it is making the midgets behave funnily.
You then turn your slime beams back to swarm of midgets, and whatever that thing is.
You then give the command "Bre-prreece", and all the Gork! start widening their slime beams out as far as they can, trying to hit as many midgets as they can, trying to hit whatever's in the middle there.
This causes the midgets to be pushed away, and several to actually seemingly break off from the group, but stops killing them. You still have trouble seeing the swarm, but it seems to be doing something.
And something large has swam above you. It definitely seems familiar, but in this thick slimy cloud, you can't tell much what it is. Probably one of the spiky cells.

Time to eat some more again, same preferences as before.
Then keep firing. This shit must be getting poisoned simply from the sheer amount of slime around. Actually even the big guy must be hurting from this.
There should be a feck load of powerful poison in our slime, or do we have to evolve that as a poison excreter?

Spoiler!
Did I miss yesterday's update  ? Sorry, yesterday was a "busy" day, was dragged to a performance of "Fiddler on the Roof" (Not broadway quality, but damn good), then I was linked to and downloaded the new "Dungeons: The Dragoning" roleplaying game. A real nice parody, they say, and time consuming.
Not to mention Spring Cleaning. (I coulda sworn I saw some actual grass today!)
Sorry for the missed update!
Spoiler!
Yes, there is a C***-S***-ton of poison in the water, silverware, but it needs to be applied to a wound to hurt them. Should you evolve contact poison (which I believe Species B had a run-in with) then everything in this cloud would be pretty much dead-splat. But, you haven't. So, only the ones getting cut by your jets or sliced/burnt by Species B (The Kamira now) are getting affected. That's still almost a dozen or two a round, though, so deal with being a very effective death machine :P .
And last round you started dealing with some of them non-lethally, but successfully.
You and the other Gork! feast on some more of the corpses dropping down, one Gork! at a time eating (+5 DNA), while the others keep firing, some in their broad beams to push through the midgets, others forgetting to use the broad beams and using narrow cutting beams to slice into the group. This turns out to be more effective than either tactic on it's own, and so you don't get upset. The big rocketing cell that has floated amongst you suddenly shouts out a word, "Kamira", which seems a pretty fitting name for it, and charges into the mass.
"Bre-Prrom! Bre-Prrom!" One of the Gork! suddenly panics, the one with the white scar, and charges into the mass after it. Interesting. You didn't share your language with that one yet. Must have learned it sympathetically, although he did essentially say "Fire Nothing in a wide beam", so he's got some learning to do. In any case, the rest of the Gork! stop shooting in obedience, or at least curiosity, and then race in after it, trying to get up close, so as to not risk hitting eachother or the Kamira.
You then all panic and race out, realizing in the nick of time that the Kamira has dropped several spines behind it, which if you recall correctly are EXPLOSIVE. Only the one with the scar continues in, and exits right behind on the other side with the Kamira. Brave guy, you wonder where his sense of self preservation went? And right behind them, BOOM, BOM, BAM, spikes go off, launching dead, crispy midgets all over. And whatever they were protecting is definitely fried.
You see the few remaining midgets suddenly all swim away, fast, trying to get away from this place as fast as possible. And... They look normal now. Whatever was between their eyes has suddenly floated off, just drifting in the faint current left from the rapid wave of explosions.

you have 27 DNA

By the way, This scene, with Gork! diving away from the exploding swarm of speed midgets (which I guess would look something like goldfish), would be awesome if someone would draw it. I'd put it up in the opening posts. :D Although, If no-one has time (I know someone's already busy with a picture of one of the species), no matter.

Go eat, gorge and dump. Try to get a piece of the main cell because I figure it might unlock new stuff. When nothing's left meet up with the Kamira and say hello.

Wait study it and growl at the big guy if he gets too close before we finish studying its corpse.
THEN let him eat, and eat with him.
See if we can explain that we want to examine the corpse before its eaten

You point your sights at the corpse, a dual hunger driving you towards it.
So, too, is the Kamira driven directly towards it. You growl, primitively, but it does understand that you're telling it to back off for a moment. And so it does, long enough for you to look over the corpse, and try to find anything out about it.
You find that it had a much more advanced mind than yourself, chains of separate, redundant protominds, capable of controlling the whole each on their own. And somewhat crystallized. It seems to be capable of... resonance. It seems like it can transmit some sort of signal you can't detect fully, although the midgets were... Or whatever those tiny things drifting around apathetically are. You can't fully figure out what their purpose is.
Once you see that, you stop growling, and take a couple swallows (+4 DNA, 1 GNDA), as the Kamira dives in and takes some bites as well. You'd actually score that a 7 on graceful dives, and it keeps it's mouth closed while... chewing. Well, it's not being greedy, if it's taking time to chew. And, sure, it's bites are larger than yours, and it could probably choose to eat faster, but hey, you guess these are the first table manners this area has seen. Some of the other Gork! also take potluck in the corpse
You then turn to the midgets, since the cooked ones aren't going to rot away, and letting scavengers get to them would be a waste. You dump out some processed nutrients (-3 DNA), and swallow several of them (+8 DNA), the other Gork! going around and doing the same, and the Kamira also doing so. Quickly, most of the midget corpses are eaten, only the thick orange slime cloud, and those tiny... parasites?... remaining to attest to the carnage of earlier.

eat some more then evolve.

Brawny Mass 1gdna 9dna
Increase mental capacity (-1 HP) 6dna
Persisting Toxins x2 10dna
Camouflage x4 (rock, cave, jungle, surface) 8dna
for 33 DNA

if we get 1 ore more extra dna from eating then
Grow Flagellum 4dna
for 37 DNA

This will make is much more intelligent and stealthy.
Best combo to go with the pure brawn of the Kamira

Mind stealth with the obvious poisonous slime trail might be a little hard... =P

What is our max stomach? If it's mid double digits or higher I'd say we take the increase mental capacity for -2 stomach rather than -1 health since we never fill it anyway.
Other than that, what silverware said.

vidboi? now im sad =(
we only have like 6 stomach max
thats why I suggested the health loss, its not quite so bad because the brawny mass will give us +1 health overall taking us up to 6

Absolutely, species B got all the good evolutions :P
On that note, let's also take a look at the plants around us and see if we can figure out how they work. Or ask species B about them. Do this only if we have time after eat-splitting.

Spoiler!
Sorry if you feel the Kamira got all the good evolutions, but as you've been observing each other for a while now, I'm adding some evolutions each has taken to the other's lists.
And, yes, your current max stomach is 6. With these new evolves, It's 7.
Dammit, I forgot. Sorry, it was 7, now 8.
You go to eat some more, but each time you are about to eat a midget, the Kamira swims past and eats it. It finishes off all the remaining midget corpses. Which is sort of upsetting, but... You settle for munching on a known safe plant (2 DNA).
You then split, becoming much larger. You realize quickly that you regained perception much faster, and that your protomind is running a bit faster, too. Besides that, your skin has become rather textured, wrinkled, easily resembling a darkened rock, or perhaps some dense plant stuff. Plus your stomach has taken on a light blue hue, nice for hiding up near the water's surface. Any your toxins and slime are slightly different, now, too. Firstly your toxins last long enough that they could probably kill even the regenerative Kamira if you hurt it, and now your slime is slightly refractive, and much clearer, letting you blend into even the surroundings much more than if you were oozing orange. It's not much of a help, but it's better than sticking out than a bright orange sore thumb.
And now that you've another flagellum, too, you feel ready to take on anything.

you have 2 hp
you have 5 stomach
you have 1 DNA

The cloud of slime blocked the being's vision. They knew, in part, that there was a great battle within. But they'd lost track of all that'd entered. When one of the screens suddenly went completely blank, they knew one of the cells they'd been following was defeated. And that the other two within remained orange, even red in places, was a sign. These two must be the ones. The harvester was aproaching, but would still take a little while. Bizzare. These two.
They never would have guessed they'd end up like this.
