The Salesman manages to get off another jet of slime. This one comes real close. Like, close enough that the eddies around it manage to hurt you. In a fit of anger, you charge it and take a massive bite out of it. This was all you needed. The Salesman's membrane splits apart in several places, spilling it's slimy fluids everywhere. It's quite an... unpleasant looking mass.
A golden glow comes from some of the less slimy fluids. You gobble them up (+1 GDNA, +3 DNA), avoiding the slime at all costs.

RUN!! Bravely run away!! Retreat!!
Lets go back to our hidey hole then eat some rocks to enlarge it and sleep.

You swim back to your nest, safely navigating the tunnels, and not meeting another life form the whole way. The slime still persists, disgustingly, but there is no other life that you can see.
Once you get to your nest, you take a nap. You then eat more rock, expanding your nest far as you can on your appetite (7 DNA). In doing so, you uncover an air pocket in the rock. the bubbles of air float to the roof of your nest, and stay there. Actually, the gasses contained feel interesting. And the pocket they were trapped in is lined with some sort of yellow substance. a powdery substance. That seems to be giving off more gas.

Evolve Brawny Mass. Not only do we get major boosts, but gaining muscles will be a great advantage later on. Then, sample a tiny bit of that powder.

Investigate the gas and powder. Is the powder dissolving in water? If either harm us we should look for ways to vent it so we don't lose our burrow. I would also evolve Increase Mass and Produce slime so we get more health and taste bad to predators.
Why limit yourself to being just human?

RUN!
Yellow rocks can only mean sulfur, its one of the few yellow minerals in the world. And the gas does NOT bode well.
Okay that is kinda metagame thinking but, explosions happen even underwater.

Well now the metagaming is out of the way, lets try eating the gas. Or absorbing it whatever.

You attempt to split and evolve, only to find that you cannot at the moment. The effort does make you hungry, so you decide to eat. And what you decide to eat? Why, you decide, of course, to make the yellow rocks your main dish. They have a marvelous crumbling texture, and are packed full of nutrients. Or, are completely made of a single nutrient, it seems (+5 DNA). Hmm. Well, sulfur is one of the almost essential nutrients needed down in this primordial soup, and although some get by without it... Hmm. maybe you didn't actually need it after all. But, nutrients are nutrients.
You then examine the gas collecting in the roof. While you can't seem to swim through it, meaning that you can no longer expand your nest upwards, it doesn't seem to be doing any harm.

You have 4 hp

you have 5 stomach

you have 17 DNA + 1 GDNA, and must wait one more turn before reproducing/evolving

Lets sleep then evolve with

Specialized enzymes (rock)
Produce Slime -5
Produce Mild Toxins -6
Toxic Slime -6

for -17 DNA

Also whats the cost for Toxic Slime? your missing it on the OP

Future evolutions then include
Strong Toxins
Slime Jet
Demonic Toxins (if we get another GDNA)
Persisting Toxins x3

Basically we will be able to coat areas in slime and nothing else will survive there, then we can feast on the rocks in peace.

*Looks, edits*

No I'm not. It's right there, 6 DNA.

Just a warning, mild toxins only do a half point of damage, and toxic slime requires the creature to have already been damaged to harm them. Persist Toxins three times will allow you to deal 2 damage with mild toxins, but that's still not much.
Although that's an interesting strategy.

You attempt to split again. Well, you still can't, you impatient little cell . So, you just end up ejecting more mass, and satiate yourself by eating more sulfur (+3 DNA).
Although slowly, being upset, so you get hungrier faster than you eat.

you have 4 hp
you have 3 stomach
you have 20 DNA+1 GDNA, and may now evolve/split.

I did say sleep then evolve. So we eat more rock, then Sleep!
And the after that we will evolve.
The strategy relies on us getting strong toxins too, and better yet another GDNA for Demonic Toxins.
If we can do this we should also be able to poop slime into currents and have it float down stream and kill everything around so we can hunt for rocks without other species there.
Also I recommend we become highly Xenophobic.

Here's what I say. First eat, to gain at least 1 more DNA, which even plain rock should be good for. Once that's done, evolve:

Produce Slime: 5 DNA
Slime Jets: 10 DNA + 1 GDNA
Produce Mild Toxins: 6 DNA
Specialized Enzymes: (Carnivore, because eating rocks all day is boring)

But the rocks allow us to avoid ingesting poisons, and to avoid combat as much as possible. Also long term if we get to space stage its easier to eat rock than terraform an asteroid. =P
