[update]BattleCruisers and Gunships

Let's face it, the main attraction of BSF is building your own ships. Share them! If you need help, check the Shipmaker Info & Help forum a little ways down.

[update]BattleCruisers and Gunships

Post by Ubiquitous »

[update]

Because only 10 attachments are allowed in one post, i have to put other pix and comments in the reply of this thread.
here are the 7 battle cruisers in a series. Slim design. Generally the weapons combine in a form of 1+2, thus one primary turret + a pair of secondary Turrets, the only exception is the one with HVRockets, in which there are 2 primary turrets.

1. Twinlaser + Beamers. plain and simple.

2. Particlecanon + particle rifles. the particle canon is improved by setting bullet speed to 20, clipsize 2.

3. Twinrailgun + railguns. the Twinrailgun is improved by setting clipsize to 3

4. HVRocket + point rocket. the HVRocket is improved by setting clipsize to 4. it's the only variation that has PD.

5. Sabotcanon + Tesla. may be the most powerful, or overpowered variation, for the tesla turrets are so effective against enemies, and the sabotcanon can easily disarm hostile ships.

6. Tachnuke + Tachyons. i really don't get the reason why a "nuke" is in the name of that weapon, its EFX looks like anything but a nuke.

7. Vulcancanon + Machineguns. actually a variation of the 2nd one.

[ORIGINAL thread]
A series of destroyers equipped with different weapon system. play different roles in a fleet.

the missile launchers, gatblasters, quadblasters, railgun, and beamers are modified with higher fire rate and shots per cycle.

From left to right, top to bottom:
1. longer than standard version, equipped with blast turrets, give your enemies a blast shower; lacks self defense, fragile when exposed to enemy fire.
2. 8 missile launchers with a higher fire rate (4 missiles per shot) to form a fire screen, provides long range fire support.
3. servant ship with 2 nanomatrix and one defense turret deployer, protected by only 6 particle guns, no fire power on board.
4. the toughest member of Zeta family with moderate projectile fire power, the only weak point is on its six o'clock.
5. A very powerful railgun in the front (6 times damage as the original one, 2.5s reload time); 2 missile launchers on each side respectively.
6. 7 beamers with a lower reload time (5s) than the original version. the color of the beam is set to sky blue.

You might want to post these with your earlier ships instead of in a competely new thread.
As with what people have said, these are good for beginner stock ships.

I like the top right variation. It seems like you have a good feel for how sections fit together. MOAR

thanx! while the smaller is the ship the easier to arrange the sections, i still can't handle the big ones :)

That's an easy one; get more sections. The don't even have to be the new and shiny ones. There are plenty of sections that fit in well with the stock sections.
naysayers will be shot

the Gunships and Fighters

Post by Ubiquitous »

Gunships
nothing extraordinary, just need a series of supportive, fast moving ships with the same visual and weapon style with the battlecruisers to form a fleet. also applied color variations for visual distinction.

1. Machine gun
GS.Machine gun
GS.Machine gun
2. Particle rifle
GS.particle rifle
GS.particle rifle
3. twin Scatter beam
GS.twin scatter
GS.twin scatter
FIGHTERS
Only 50HP for each (just need 2 missiles to blow it into pieces), poor fire power, extremely weak and fragile when act alone, but can be really nasty when 4 or more of these imps cluttered together.

there're 2 types of them: one with 3 particle guns, the other with only 1 scatter beam.

a group of the formal one normally used as active PD, they surround their enemies and nullify all the hostile projectiles. when toggled to offensive mode, the particle guns together provide considerable fire output. however, any beam weapon which can not be intercepted would blow them away very quickly.

the other one with scatter beams are quiet simple: fire output, wear down enemy's armor, distract enemy fire, that's it. more effective and survive longer when cooperate with the formal ones.

Not bad at all :D. To get around the 10 attachment limit, put the .shp and sb4. files and any custom sprites you used in a single .zip or .rar file, and upload the pictures to Tinypic.com or something and link them from there.

Well the ships are very simple but nothing terribly wrong as a progression. My only complaint is the idea of posting the exact same ship multiple times with different weapon layouts and one overly bright color change. This is especially annoying on that tiny two section thing. The same basic hull makes sense but maybe modify it alittle?
