Deltaflyer's Random Ships Version 2.0

Let's face it, the main attraction of BSF is building your own ships. Share them! If you need help, check the Shipmaker Info & Help forum a little ways down.

Deltaflyer's Random Ships Version 2.0

Post by Deltaflyer »

Haven't been here for a while, tried to gain some skills in shipbuilding and lurking on occasion. Hoping that the new and improved me can make some good ships, and considering the number of new, unfamiliar pieces that have popped up, (including Horsemonster's amazing sprites) I have even more learning to do.

Even so, I think that my latest foray into the new sprites hasn't come off too badly.

Comments and criticism required, especially on my placement of doodads and the team colour strips (pink bits) as I have only recently started using them on a regular basis. Thanks.

*Update: 7th August

A Random fleet, in which I move away from my comfort zone of terran-ish ships and... uh... orange. Instead, I try some different methods, different colours and different sprites, which I enjoyed experimenting with.

C&C needed again. The first ship of the topic is a lost cause, since I have lost the .sb4 file. Thank you for the comments, however.

*Update: 24th August

First decent use of shiny Sprites:

An assortment of my ships using Kaelis' Shiny sprites (Thank you, by the way).

*Two ships where I try to use the style of some of Anna' ships. I think I failed personally, but still want some C&C*

The orange/browns could stand to be changed, and the prongs on the tips of the "wings" at front and back should be lost.
The purple looks good on it, however the greys probably need to be a bit closer to the same level, because it makes some areas look far lower than they should be.
But otherwise good ship.

Good Luck with future ships.

I think the browns/oranges fit quite nicely with the purple. Yes, I do agree, however, that those wing struts don't fit that well.

I was holding off on saying this until now, but I feel it has to be said:

This ship looks like it's owned by clowns. I'm half expecting it to fold out into a fairground.

So I need to reduce the number of doodads or teamstripes?

The cylindrical-conical shape also inevitably elicits comparisons to a carnival tent. The wings on this ship are reminiscent of the little triangular flags those tents always seem to have on top of them.

You know what? Those are actually really freaking good.

The last ship seems like it's missing something from its bow, but the rest I can only pick nits on.

Good job. You'll want to keep this up.

That first ship in your last post is awesome. It has a pretty unique shape and look to it.

These are all quite good. I do spot a mirroring error in the first ship you posted in this new line.
Otherwise, I'm just looking forward to you trying larger ships.

That latest batch isn't half bad, I want to see more of that.

all i can spot that isn't good is that on some of the ships there's a very bold centre line which is offputting. other than that, everything else is great

Hum....

Deltaflyer, these are awesomely like the ones on nanostray 2!
Are you sure you haven't played it?
I have a friend who has it and that boss always owned both of us.
It always either pummeled us with missiles or with it's laser cannon.
