Hi all!

This is a simple guide for beginers like me. With this guide, you will able to make "smart" defences.


1. Consturct a little fighter.
- put the ring to the end of the ship. Set the core as it parent.
- put something int to the front of the ship, that's will be the shield. Set the ring as it's parent.
- put a weapon near to the ring.



2. Driveing connection
- first click to the ring, than right click to the weapon, and click "Set driver" in the menu.



3. The shielding
- put some part after the ring. Set the core as it parent.
- put an aegis deflector to the last part, and target the first part with it.



4. Note:
- all things wich parent is the ring, will be moved to facing position.
- moving will only work, if the driver weapon targets an enemy. (an enemy must be in range)
- moving part will always be points were the weapon points.

What made you think anyone here wants a "tutorial" from a newbie with no other posts who has yet to prove himself at all? Making moving defenses that follow the enemy is god damn simple shit. Really simple. Incredibly, painfully simple. This was completely unnecessary. There was no demand for such a tutorial, because anyone with two braincells and a neuron to fire between them can figure this out quite easily on their own. At least I seriously hope they can.

... Actually, I guess not. Since turning section rotation on is completely unnecessary if you set a weapon as the section's driver. Way to go, adding completely useless steps to your tutorial!

If you actually do want to make a guide or tutorial in the future, check your spelling and grammar before posting, and make sure you actually know what you're talking about.

Actually, judging from the amount of fellows having trouble making simple composite turrets, I think such a guide like this would be appreciated.


The screenshots and animated examples are well-made, though there are some unnecessary steps. All the guide needs is a bit more editting and modifications to be excellent. For example the rotating section is not required, and the aegis isn't compulsory.

Take a look about "Mako's guide to triggers". His guide is same sample like my. Nobody sad, that was unnecessary...

It makes me sad that you're probably right.

I have no idea how or why people have so much difficulty with it_{I suspect it's because they're idiots}, so I guess this guide might help some_{mentally challenged} people.

Patch: Learn how to use the quote function.

I did notice it. It doesn't change any of my points. And if there are people here who wanted such a guide, they could have asked for one, and one of us PROs would have supplied it._{haha no we wouldn't we're lazy.}

Mak0's guide to triggers came out a long time ago back when triggers were a fairly new development, and didn't explain things that are trivially easy to figure out. But yeah, as Squishy said, there are people who will probably actually find this guide helpful, so I'll retract most of my complaints.

Still, if you'd actually made posts elsewhere on the site before posting your guide, I would have been more likely to take you seriously and less likely to snap.
