First, this belongs in the Custom Ships forum, second, you can take pictures in the SM with F9.

Now on to the ships. First one: no, it's not cool. The bright green and the dark blue clash terribly. Try mainly shades of grey with touches of color. Also, don't overflow the hull with weapons, it makes it look ugly. Second one: nice? Really? Well, its actually better than the first one. Try a lighter shade of blue and less weapons.

Stupid Stufff:

Since you found the sprites, try setting the modules to alpha 0, since they stick out like a sore thumb.
Is that black or blue that I see on the second ships, anyway it looks bad, light it up!

Oh and hide your damn torrents!

Well, in my opinions:
1. Make up some sections that looks like a module, put them where you want and hide the real module into those sections.
2. It's clearly that your ship has structural defects.
3. Are you sure that the size of the battleship is correct? It should more larger than a frigate!

It all depends on one's method of designating stuff.
If it's big, it doesn't mean it has to be a battleship. He could be going by roles for all we know.
