Hi All!

Post by Dingo »

The Pangeans* are here! (Fleet upload coming soon)

I love this game, I'm a little bit Aspergers. This game's Aspy heaven (maths, geometry, music, techy stuff)

DL'd BSF July 08. & played whilst working in isolated Central Australian business. Saved my sanity in town of 70 people & WOEFULLY bad internet.

not sure if this right place to ask but..
how to import custom sprites in SM? (tried toolbar import tool but no result) {sourcing from arc-weapons folder in custom spites folder}

can ships be de-spawned (correct term?) in custom enc.s? so that player ships disappear & new/different ones spawn?

is there an app to guage Custom Ship Points? (ie. Battleships 3pts Destroyers 2pts etc.)

*Pangea was the original Super-Continent of Earth

Just two things first: This is the custom ships forum. If you have questions, you'll get the answers in the General Discussion forum. Post them in here, and it's highly likely your post will just be deleted.

Second, if you don't have ships yet, don't make a thread here. That's the general rule of thumb.

It would be a good idea to lurk around a bit, as it seems you don't know a lot about how this place works.

To answer your questions:

No, ships can't be despawned. You can use the reinforcement powerup to replace a ship, but that's about it.
To import sprites in SM, just drag and drop. Simple as that.
There is no gauge to rate ships. Rating, or rather balance, is entirely personal, although standardized balancing levels have existed in the past. (meaning several users using the same standard.)
There is no app to conver sb2. or 3 into sb4. This is nigh impossible due to the difference in features between the older versions and the newer one, plus, with the amount of new possibilities compared to the older ones, it's better to just rebuild your old ships.

Welcome to the forums.

If you're using BSF .90d (latest version), the ShipMaker has a function that can mass import sprites. Under the "Tools" button, click "Group Arrange". Then open up a folder and select the sprites you want, and drag them into the screen, onto on top of the columns. This imports your sprite. You can save this configuration by clicking "Save Sprites Ini" and load it again with "Open Sprites Ini".

If you're running Sandbox mode, you "can" get rid of ships by toggling "Click to remove/destroy" option, then selecting the core of the ship. This kills the ship and you'll have to use "Remove Terrain" to clean it up. If not in Sandbox, you can select the ship and press "Ctrl-D" to self destruct the ship. This is only to remove ships. No way of spawning unless you're running Sandbox :P .

I suggest that you read over some of the documentation and rules in each of the subforums, makes life much easier, with the plus that people won't strike you down for your mistakes (as much, at least).
