All games have content that doesn't get used, it's how game makers decide what to use. If it's a big game, the creators usually throw the stuff that doesn't get picked into a concept art book. I doubt the latter has any relevance to the thread but providing a range of sprites for TH to look at would certainly help him decide on what the game will look like.

I'm no good at sprite creating but I'll give it another go to see if I can help out.

Yea I'm just waiting for STARSTRUCK or Cycerin to give me some sprites :( clearly my own attempts aren't very good.

The only thing I can see wrong with them is a lack of detail.The shape of the sprites is fine, actually the shape is quite versatile. Just put some squiggly lines and dots on 'em along with a bit of shading and they'll be great.

Detail is indeed the missing thing here... Still, it wouldn't hurt if Starstruck and Cycerin would show their faces.

Sorry, I've been a bit busy lately. Now that that's done with, here's what I have so far (i.e. not much):

Left is a section I made very early on, featuring a smooth, Kae_shn-like aesthetic.

Middle is an original section based on the "FTL-like" criteria.

Right is a reimagining of BSF_Stock02.

Seeing as the current enemy ship designs are all stock, I think it would be a good idea to make filled versions of stock sections for now, making new sections as needed.

Those are excellent! The two new ones are exactly what we need I think.

You don't have to stick to the stock sections, you should feel free to make new shapes if you think they're cool.

They look like shiny sprites, while still not being completely like them. The style is similar, yet different enough. I like it. Great work.
