I agree with R0ni, especially the drinking, drinking is good.

use the time in the station to quietly enquire about any trade or rumours, knowledge is power etc etc

oooh and can we come up with some outlandish names for the gunner and first mate, just for fun.

Oh i'm great at SYFY names!

Kai Zulaine
and
Zacharias Saenam

Also, first mates normally get drunk at bar's. It's a bit of a cliche (or however you spell it).

Personal messages
Spoiler!
Kai Zulaine it is. Sorry for hiatus on posting. I've been making ships to fill this story in and spending time with my girlfriend. I have no intention of letting this die out, so no worries.
The Iditarod
Repairs.jpg
The Locust needed some minor repairs, so for the few hours you decide to buy all your crew drinks...and shots for your gunner. In the meantime, you overhear a few of the miners talk.
The captain's decided to not pursue the bounty on that green commerce ship. Dealing with mob bosses isn't really our style anyways. What'd they do to him anyways?"/i]
Heard they destroyed some of his pirates near the jump node entrance. Was delivering something important to that Ratai fleet, and they came to his aid. Of course, not even Sinto would put a hit on an organized faction's military.
You did see his ship was docked outside, yes? Although with the Ratai so close, whoever he is shouldn't have to worry.
After a few more words, they change the subject to something of no interest to you. Eventually they begin cracking jokes. Seeing one of their smiles, you realize that both of them are Terrans.
You head over to the bar and order a light drink to ease the stress. A man, presumably another miner, sits next to you.
Hi, I'm the captain of the mining vessel Iditarod. That green ship outside, that's not yours is it?
You nod, knowing where this is going.
Do you understand that there is a hit put out on you?
I overheard some of your men talking about it. Who's responsible?
A man by the name of Jegra Sinto. He's on the Riryan council, but considering that it's Rirya, he may as well be a mob boss. Those ships you destroyed were some of his. The hit hasn't been out long at all,
You gasp in pain as you slam your head against the table.
You should head into the Colonies. I'm heading for Cync, I could escort you into Mioran space.
What's your catch? And how can I trust you?
I want the contents of that Parax you left dead in the water, while you cover me. Also, I'm not a bounty hunter. Besides, if I wanted you dead you'd be dead by now. We're all armed and this station is on Sinto's payroll.
Hard to argue with that. You get up and tell your crew to finish their drinks and take their sobriety innoculations. They definately need to be sober.

With the repairs on the Locust complete, you inspect your new ship. Riryan mechanics know nothing of Mioran ships.

Thankfully, no major changes were made to your ship.
You order to proceed with the departure while establishing a communications line with the Iditarod.
Iditarod mining vessel, this is the Locust of Arime. Closing in on the Parax vessel. You're all clear.
Salvage the Parax.jpg
Not much here, few metals, 500 in credits, and some kinetic firearms. These guys really didn't have a chance. Anyhow, a deal's a deal. Let's get back to the Colonies.
Captain, long range sensors indicate an Arpol class vessel waiting by the jump node.
Transfer your findings to the Iditarod. We're gonna need their help.
An Arpol eh? No worry, our vessel has some pretty heavy weapons. Not to mention we're all trained TSE military. We got you covered.
We are superior.jpg
Both of you enter the jump node before the Arpol can recover from the barrage it just received. You, once again, decide to rest while you travel through the long space lane.

Aeronar. With a hit on you, it would be unwise to linger in an independent world, despite Aeronar's massive trading potential. You and the Iditarod continue on towards Meax.

At Meax you emerge only slightly before the Iditarod. You'd never think the sight of 1/3 of Mior's offensive force to be a welcome sign. After showing them credentials, they let you pass. A sensor sweep indicates a trade convoy in orbit around Meax, so you decide to head closer to the planet.
For some reason, the Iditarod follows you.
As you dock into the station, the Iditarod hails you.
Well, looks like we're all done here. You can usually find us hanging around Aeronar, so find us if you ever are around. I look forward to our adventures together.
Meax station.jpg
This station has this wondrous "digital bulletin board" of sorts. No need to go asking around for jobs here.

Kai Zulaine:This is a good time to select a job and maybe even purchase a new ship (especially with the hit on your old one). Note that used spaceships are still in working order and most spacers will pay full price. Taking on one of these jobs is wise, but not a necessity. What shall we do?

You might want to Buy the Sword class and either take on a Bounty hunter job or a Delivery job because both is more safer than taking on SAR ships (trust me on this i've seen what they've done to my faction)

I'm all for getting a Sword, but do we really have enough cash? Maybe we could write the seller an IOU and get the bounty contract. The delivery doesn't pay well (though we could take it if it's on the way), and spying on the SAR sounds too dangerous - we're not supposed to engage directly, but we have no way of ensuring we're not found.

Upgrading would cost 30K. We currently have 26K, so that's a no.
Change of plans - take the delivery contract, then when we get to Jazn see what they have. Hopefully more jobs.

Going to play agent in SAR space indeed sounds dangerous especially without proper stealth / jamming gear and ship that can definately outrun anything after it. Too much of a risk. Delivery supposingly is the safest job, but then again it pays almost nothing. I suppose doing the bounty hunter job would do - if we can get our hands on that sword. I don't think we are lacking too much. Barter? Or work out some contract. Hmm?

Outrun, yes, but perhaps not outfight. Pirate dude's probably got a decent ship.
...come to think of it, what is the bounty on him for? If it's for serious dread pirating he's likely to be flying a real good ship, but if he's just a smuggler or theif or whatever it shouldn't be that hard.

i tested a commerce ship and it outfighted an arpol but at the cost of it's starboard side being blown to bits but with the speed of the locust maybe it can outfight it without taking damage

Considering the SAR's aptitude for stealth and reconnaissance, I'd say steer clear of ANY spying missions in their territory. It's a safe bet that they have more than decent Command, Control and Communications technology. Take a delivery contract.
