The Rothnian Republic

((Dear lord, I suck at formatting and OP making))

The Rothnian Empire was once a powerful faction. It was influential, large and technologically advanced. It was one of the most powerful factions in the Gulf. Though rich people were not particularly numerous, resources were available and an average individual could live fairly comfortably. It would all be pretty great if it weren't for one thing - the lack of personal freedoms. People didn't have a say in anything and had to rely on the Emperor. The law was strict, crime was punished very harshly and freedom of speech was almost non existent. On one hand , people had access to all they needed, but on the other hand, they also had to be very careful not to make any mistakes, constantly living in fear of prison, execution or exile. So they started a revolution. It started out small and everyone thought it would be silenced soon, but just the opposite happened. The revolutionaries started gaining more and more support. It grew larger and larger, resulting in a rather bloody conflict. Years had passed and neither side seemed to be at an advantage, with the end of the war nowhere in sight. But over time, the revolutionaries started gaining the upper hand, and finally, the war was over. Rothnia, or at least what was left of it, was reformed into a republic. However, due to the years of war, Rothnia had been reduced to a small, weak and very poor faction with only a few starsystems, terrible economy and no technological advancements whatsoever. It remained in that state for a long time, far behind the rest of the Deplhinius Gulf, with people living in poverty and barely surviving.

Recently, however, it has started getting back on its feet. It went through a technological and economic boom, and while the status has improved significantly and it has actually become relevant again, it is still merely a shadow of its former glory, trying to catch up to the bigger and more advanced factions.

Location: Rothnian Republic is located in the Böotes sector, between the Coalition of Terra, Kriken Coalition and the Commonwealth of Independent Traders.

Ship designations: (Spoilered because descriptions are messy and unclear and make little sense. I'll probably clean it up sometime in the future.)

"C" - Full Rothnian Republic redesign of a Rothnian Empire ship, military purpose, similarities in hull and
not much else. Ships with this designation can ONLY be used by the Rothnian Armed Forces and they are not
allowed to be sold to anyone. The exception to this rule are the armed forces of the Coalition of Terra,
which can have these ships in limited numbers. They are used by the Rothnian Armed Forces.

"B" - Design upgraded during the time of the Rothnian Republic, elements preserved from the old design from
the time of the Rothnian Empire. ships with this designation can be sold to Rothnian and Terran civilians
with special permissions and only in limited numbers, usually only available to large and powerful
corporations. They can also be used by the armies of independed planets and starsystems, as long as they
have not sided with or are not a part of any major alliances and their control does not exceed one starsystem, but
their civilians do not have access to those ships - only the armed forces controlled by the independent
planet/independed starsystem factions themselves. They are not used by the Rothnian Armed Forces.

"A" - Original design from the time of the Rothnian Empire, with nothing changed about it. Ships with this designation can
be sold to any civilians that can afford them and are allowed by the law of their respective factions may
buy them. They are exported to different factions and sold in Rothnia alike. Ships with this designation are still produced, with the Terran Empire time ships that are no longer in production being scrapped for materials. They are not used by the
Rothnian Armed Forces.

"M" - Ship from the time of the Rothnian Republic built for military use. Ships with this designation can
ONLY be used by the Rothnian Armed Forces and they are not allowed to be sold to anyone. Even the Coalition
of Terra does not have access to these ships. They are used exclusively by the Rothnian Armed Forces.

"R" - Either a downgraded version of a combat ship from the time of the Rothnian Republic or a combat ship
not used by army and designed to be sold: weaker weapons and hull, no special technologies, less weapons.
Ships with this designation can be sold to any civilians that can afford them and are allowed by the law of
their respective factions to buy them. They are exported to different factions and sold in Rothnia alike.
They are not used by the Rothnian Armed Forces.

"L" - Ships not built for combat. Ships with this designation can be sold to any civilians that can afford
them and are allowed to do so by the law of their respective factions. They are exported to different
factions and sold in Rothnia alike. Some are used by the Rothnian Armed Forces.


"K" - Ships not built for combat that carry various advanced equipment, frequently classified. Ships with
this designation can ONLY be used by the Rothnian Armed Forces and they are not allowed to be sold to
anyone. Even the Coalition of Terra does not have access to these ships. They are used by the Rothnian Armed
Forces.

"T" - Ships not built for combat. Ships with this designation can ONLY be used by the Rothnian Armed Forces
and they are not allowed to be sold to anyone. The exception to this rule are the armed forces of the
Coalition of Terra, which can have these ships in limited numbers. They are used by the Rothnian Armed
Forces.

"Z" - Stationary military installations, armed or unarmed. Installations with this designation are only
found in Rothnian space and are only used by Rothnian Armed Forces unless specified otherwise. Sometimes
particular installations with this classification are used by Terrans. This does not depend on the model, but on
the particular installation.

"N" - Semi-stationary military installations that can be transported by various means, but, unlike ships,
are designed to stay in one place while operational. They are often deployable turrets that are carried
around and set up at strategically important location when the need arises. Installations with this
designation are only used by Rothnian Armed Forces.

"G" - Hybrid warships. Ships with this designation are a result of the Rothnian Terran alliance. They use both Terran and Rothnian technology and are a combined effort of both factions. They also have the advantages of both factions, often making them better at their role than the "M" and "C" type ships. They tend to be equipped with advanced and experimental technology. These ships are only used by the armed forces of Rothnia and Terra.

"S" - Hybrid superships. Ships with this designation are enormously large ships built by Terrans and Rothnians. At this moment, there are no classes with this designation, but there are rumors that a few ships of a completely new class are currently being built that will use it.


Ships:
While in combat they are often a match to most factions' size equivalents, Rothnian ships are by no mean advanced. They owe their combat performance to the fact that they are mainly guns and hull with engines and not much else, while other factions usually pack other technology such as various scanners and electronic equipment with them. The weapons are also as powerful as weapons of most other factions, but they are generally larger and not a whole lot of them can be mounted on the ships.

Aware of the current political tensions in the Delphinius Gulf the war in some parts the Rothnians were worried that, if the conflict were to take larger proportions, the Rothnian Republic would be affected. While capable of defending itself against minor neighbour factions, they were helpless in any larger conflict. Therefore, they decided to take action. Aside from forming an alliance with the Coalition of Terra, the Rothnian Republic has started modernising and improving their armed forces.

Unlike some other factions, Rothnians do not use any form of theme naming for their ships and weapons. Instead, they just give a number and some symbols, such as "MLPNR472", and let it be used under that name for a bit until a common, everday name for it is created that everyone uses, and then they adopt it as the official name for the weapon or ship. That process usually lasts a very short time as the official names are long and difficult to pronounce so barely anyone bothers using them.

A small ship created for swarming larger, slower ships. It is not particularly useful individually nor against equivalent sized ships, but it is excellent when used in large numbers against bigger vessels.

A modernised version of an old design. With paper thin armour and its firepower directed forward, this ship isn't very useful in ship vs. ship engagements, and it is instead used for slowly destroying enemy armour while they're distracted by other ships.

Another modernised design, the original Sledgehammer became a sort of a symbol of the old empire. One of the most commonly used ships, it was their best known ship. The modernised variant is no different. The workhorse of the Rothnian fleet, the most standard of the standard, it is an all-round ship used for various tasks. The common one. The soldier. The basic unit.

With its Thumper cannons this ship is good for one purpose and one purpose only - long range bombardment and fire support. It is great at smashing enemies armor from afar, but due to the very slow turning of the aforementioned cannons, its lack of maneuverability and paper thin armour, it is almost useless in close range combat.

When the improvements and modernisation of Rothnian Armed Forces started, it quickly became obvious that one of the things that they lacked was some kind of a larger, more powerful ship. They had the Stormbringer-M, but it was just a long range fire support and useless on its own. Therefore, they decided to create a heavy, versatile ship that could be used in major conflicts and in minor battles alike. And so, the Shredder-M class was born. With its large set of vulcan cannons facing in various directions it is capable of fighting mutliple ships at a time, making it useful in major engagements. The cannons are also placed in such a way that it can focus a large portion of its firepower on a single traget when needed, making it just as efficient even in "one ship versus another" type of combat.

The Mad Topol-L is named after an insane miner from a legend who freed his fellow miners from an old shaft they got trapped in by accident, only to brutally murder them afterwards. It is a fairly large mining ship with a decent amount of storage space, and it is pretty popular in Rothnia.

Probably the most common Rothnian freighter, it is used by the Rothnian Armed Forces and civilians alike.

Much like the Sledgehammer-C, this ship was once the most common warship used by the Rothnian Empire. While common, it was also very powerful and feared by the Empire's enemies. Those days are long gone, however, and it is not capable of competing with most ships of modern, decently sized factions. It is, however, still occasionally used in the militaries of small, single planet or single system factions. Despite not being used a lot even by tiny factions that do not produce their own warships, it is still commonly used in various private militaries, and it is popular among pirates and anyone who needs escort for their ships due to the fact that they are more than a match to most ships used by civilians.

An upgraded and modernised version of the original Sledgehammer-A, not everyone can own this ship. Access to these ships is limited and you have to put in a lot of effort to be allowed to actually get one, and they are very expensive. It is well worth the price, though, as it is capable of destroying even the powerful Han Ronald Engineering's Corsair-C.

It's not exactly secret considering we talked about it in the discussion topic. :P

They don't have any thrusters?
Your ships would need a frontline tanker considering some of them are hard hitting but quite fragile.
Edit: Actually i take it back, your ships are good as they are depending on their fleet composition.

They have a propulsion system which doesn't release long flames and stuff.
If you look at them again, you'll se they have pipe like things on the back.

Screwdriver has none but I'll modify it soon enough.

You could add engine glows to them to make them look more appealing in that regard.

Maybe you will use the gradient custom exhaust sprite. It seems to fit the style.
