when i double click the bsf icon it gives an error:
''Failed to initialize drawing surfaces''


how do i avoid this?

Try re-installing the game, that fixes most basic issues like this.

If that doesn't work, it's probable that you'll have to disable surfaces. The game should do that automatically, but if not, open up bfconfig.ini, find "Surfaces = 1" and change it to "Surfaces = 0".
