I keep getting this error when I try to import any sprite from my custom sprites folder.

I've checked a few things, it seems when you go to import a sprite, it looks for bitmaps?

Some help here would be nice.

Ok I'm assuming the section shows up as a block with a question mark in it. According to the error message it's trying to use a sprite which 'doesn't exist', and usually you'd have to check your file-path.

Sadly that probably wouldn't help if you're just dragging and dropping because there is no writing of the file path at all.

Try using "Import Section sprite" from the tools tab, it's the 4th from the bottom above "Open sprites ini", then find the file that way. Then click z and it should show up on the right of the screen.

That is what I was doing :? , the second pic is what the screen looks like when I select import custom sprite, the first pic is the error I get when I try to import any sprite from my custom sprites folder.

I just checked the picture again, your game folder is not called "Battleships forever", it's called "eships forever", which obviously means during installation or since then the "battl" in the folder name has been deleted.

rename the entire game folder "Battleships Forever" Exactly like that, without the quotes and see if it works.

Thats just what the error showed of the that file's name, its long so it doesn't show all of it. Trust me, I made sure all the files are named properly, so that's not the problem.

Also, the ShipMaker works fine if I edit the ini file by hand, but I would prefer to use "import custom sprite" since it's faster, (when it works).

Just make several inis and get used to importing them instead of all the sprites. Does dragging/dropping work?

Have you tried using normal directories and filenames? You know, like everyone else? C:\Battleships Forever\Custom Sprites\Kae_necron\Kae_nec24.png ? Sprite name guidelines are there for a reason.

The import section and dragging and dropping MIGHT not be working due to the ( ) in the sprite file names. I'll have to test that out and see if it work.

And what do you mean by:

You realise if you are editing Kaelis's sprites you should ask permission first, right?

no don't worry hes not modding kaes sprites, and the reason the sprites aren't loading is because they've not in the custom sprites folder in BSF

Um... yes they are? According to his error message they are.

Custom Sprites\eships Forever\Custom Sprites\Whatever

I don't know what's with that first bit... unless he's trying to use sprites that he has in a different Custom Sprites folder that's not in his BSF folder, but he already said that they ARE in his BSF folder. Or at least, I think he said that. And adding things to the .ini wouldn't work if they weren't.

Also, how do you know he's not editing Kaelis' sprites? If he's not, why has he renamed the folders and the sections in them?

its to do with the download links for the list of correct sprite names, and the sprites hes trying to access are in a bsf folder that doesn't have bsf in it or shipmaker or anything it just full of sprites.

... You're both making me confused and frustrated. Stop being vague about it. There is no reason for you to be hiding this information, near as I can tell.
