I already have 200+ shapes, and thats just after 3 hours of fooling around with it.
Heres a quickstart guide:
1. Install and run Alchemy. Doh.
2. Set up mirroring: Click on the 'Affect' button on the toolbar, pick 'Mirror'. Then click 'Horizontal' to disable it, and enable 'Vertical', and click 'Reset'.
3. You can already start drawing, but itll be just mirrored curves. Fortunately for you, ive found some good setups that yield interesting results:
a) Set 'Line Weight' to something like 4 and Transparency less than 50%. Click 'Create' button to get the menu, pick 'Speed Shapes'. Lower Speed down to about 25%. Make some random strokes on the canvas. Instant ship shapes - cool, huh? Toggle 'Line Type' to switch between smooth and hard lines.
b) You can use the same Line Weight and Transparency as in a). From the create menu, pick 'Scrawl Shapes'. Set the Detail and Noise sliders to something very low, like 10% (noise can be a bit higher). Make some wild strokes.
c) Set Line Weight to 1 and Transparency to a low value. From the Create menu, pick 'Ribbon Shapes'. Set both Size and Spacing to 1, and Friction to a very low value. Make some quick strokes. You can change style from line to filled shapes by pressing the 'Style' button, and increasing Size - this will give you a more defined look. This method gives the best looking results, but all shapes end up smooth and organic.
