can't seem to use DC trigger

well,i wanted to make some sort of ship like the tiger claw from wing command for who that remembers
well,i wanted the ship to have a like stelth mode that the two side parts comes closer to the core and make sort of submarine look
so i used the "manual" trigger option of trugger on when ,
and trigger off when /
and i tried it,turned on the direct control option,and nothing
and sticky manuals havnt helped either,so i ask who can explain me
please

another question is if i can use triggers to make certian parts fade and make a invisible like part?
