Kinetic Missile Gun?

Would it be possible to make a ship that fired kinetic missiles, the bullets having the same effect on a ship that a floating section has on a ship?
On mules we find two legs behind
and two we find before.
We stand behind before we find
what those behind be for.

A ship deployer and kamikaze mode should work...

they would only fire automatically if you could deploy an allied ship rather than a player ship... which arcalane tells me is impossible...

I mean a gun that propels it like a blaster bullet/minmissile

A large burst with high damage per shot, sprites that look like sections? other than that, I don't know.
Maybe a main gun that fires a KM-sprite projectile, linked to a gun that fires 150 invisible bullets?

Maybe one of those fin funnel thingies with a short ranged beam?

If I understand what your asking about... Your trying to get something that acts like a missile but releases shrapnel when it hits the ship its tracking? Or do you mean something else?

It would be nice if the torpedo launcher had the same option as the auto cannon to choose custom explosion/shrapnel sprites...Would be really nice to be able to choose the bullet sprite for the Teller module too.

Lacking that, wouldn't it be feasible to put an autopilot mode on modules, so they will automatically fire/activate by themselves even on a player controlled ship? Also would be simpler if the ship deployer spawned allied ships. Great things could then be done with the deployer...

I believe that he wants a weapon that would do the same as a loose section:
Drive through the entire ship until there's nothing left of either.

Beams do that, but that isn't what he wants.
Railguns do that, but that would require insane damage per hit and borders on wankcannon.
Sabot Cannons have the same problem.
High-burst guns are as close as I can think of.
WAIT I lied, goslings are a more practical method, but lack many customization options.

Custom explosion sprites at this point are impossible to my knowledge, and the Torpedo is using most (if not all) of the special options at it's disposal right now, so adding shrapnel behaviour is also impossible.

Maybe a burst/quick salvo from an high damage autocannon, with section sprites?

That way, the 'sections' would drive through the ships until there's nothing left of either. There would be lots of explosions going on, and you can (I think) even change the shrapnel to look like the little section bits left behind when sections blow up. Lots of explosions + hole in ship + sections all over the place = ok?

Mod some tachyons.

Like debris, they pass through sections continuously doing damage.

Sadly Tachyon weapons retain their 'puffs'.So even if you mod the shot sprites you'll have to deal with it looking rather gassy.
