Downloading sprites

Post by Aerth Child »

This may make me seem stupid, but I try to download some of Kaelis' amazing custom sprites, but I can't make the file work. It becomes a .rar, and I don't know how to use those types of files. Help?

You have to download WinRAR. It's a program sort of like zip. Apparently you have to pay if you want the full version, but you can just download the trial and while it will nag you to buy once the allocated time is gone, you can still use it freely to uncompress RAR files and take the sprites to your custom sprites directory.

WinRAR is way better than Winzip
It handles all kinds of compression files, and rar files compresses much more than zip.

7zip is superior to both, though. It handles as many archives and can compress to quite a few as well.

QFT.

Plus the 7-zip format compresses large stuff like it's made of nothing.

For these and all other compressoin types, I use Peazip

Free, handles all known compression types and even allowes you to choose compression ammount.

Note: the link IS the download.

Thanks for all the info. I will use one of these programs for my own sprites, when I finally make them. This was very helpful.
