Haha, every time I look at these tips, I think my ships are gonna be forever ugly when I start putting weapons on them because I could never have the patience to mod and test weapons.

...Then I look at Anna's Trance Gemini and old Andromeda and I suddenly feel all better.

Facts about ablative armor plating.
Ok, I know that this was posted a while back, but what is Ablative Armor Plating? I know I sound like a noob for asking that, but really, what is it?

Ablative armour is at it's most basic extra armour slapped onto an existing surface in such a way that it can be destroyed without compromising the surfaces' durability, thus giving an extra layer of defense.

In most modern cases, ablatives come in small plates so that a single area can be blasted off without removing the additional protection from the rest of the hull.

Ok, thx. So its just extra sections with high HP for the sole purpose of making the ship tougher to kill?

Btw, Venator, that ship in the left picture of your signature is AWESOME.

Doesn't have to have high HP. The explosions from a high-HP section can be more harm than good.

Thanks, but this isn't really the place for it.
