Destroy The Juggernaut II[SIGNUPS OPEN]

Post by Commodore111 »

Okay, I need 7 more military players and 6 more pirate players. Signups open.

The Juggernaut, after the first military attempt was scrapped due to massive hull damage. The Juggernaut II was ready to be built.

After the Juggernaut II was built and the military found out, the military started to organize another strike on them. This time with even more weapons and

armor.

Now it is up to the military to stop the pirate's wrath.

The military have obtained this picture of the Juggernaut II:

Based on your last Juggy tourney, this is an unbalanced format. While each side has a cumulative 2,000 points, the side with the Juggernaut has the advantage. A large ship worth twice two smaller ships will usually be much tougher than the two smaller ships.

This format makes the military side have to attack the Juggernaut (due to threat circle size) allowing the rest of the pirate ships to pick apart the ships that are death locked onto the Juggernaut. With the Juggernaut being twice as large it is very durable and ensures significant losses to the military side before it can be destroyed leaving the rest of the battle still unbalanced.

Last tourney (after your disappointingly sparse offical report), even with foreknowledge of the pirate ships, and careful placing of the military ships the best that could be done was keeping the pirates+Juggernaut to a 60% win rate and managing a 40% draw. This after dropping some sub-par military ships and going with duplicates of the very best ships. No military wins = unbalanced format.

I can think of four possible ways to try to balance this problem and to make this a viable tourney:
(1) increase the military ship count
(2) decrease the pirate ship count
(3) increase the military points per ship
(4) decrease the pirate points per ship

I think you should run some simulations to get a feel for a format that at least has a chance of going either way for a win based on ship design and fleet coordination because as it stands right now, there is no point in joining this tourney as it is pretty much a foregone conclusion which side is going to win.

Sign me up for military. Also what the post above me said.

Also, your storyline is terrible. Either give us a well written [short] story, or none at all.

What's up with the weapon blob Juggernauts? I remember the original Juggernaut looked like an actual boss, yet somehow we ended up with these previous two pieces of weapon/ablative spam.

It's hideous quite simply put.

Take a look at the boss run, learn from that. Each boss has a style, a backstory, and can be considered a good ship if they were submitted in the custom ships section, from what I see of the blurred piece of crap, it's a massive repetetive CPU hogging beast wuith enough blasters to make a noob think about gunspam.

Blaster spam is all I can say. Its large, it's overpowered, and there is no way a ship with only stock weapons is ever going to punch through the massive amount of ablatives on that thing. Hell, the thing IS an ablative. My advice is to build anouther ship. I'm bad at rules, but I believe the Juggernaught alone is enough to make this tournament extremely onesided.

Remember your synergy rules.

1+1+1 = 5.

Same goes for blasters. With so many, they might be worth 1 point each, but together they form a collective 'much much more'

sign me up for the military.
Also if that is what we are facing, why not just use nothing but long range weapons, so the juggernaut can not fire at anything?

Because the little ships will be doing more damage than it will.

Also why does this ship look like a junk heap?

Meh, I wouldn't mind fighting it. The blaster spam is a little gay but as long as its not like boxy and rapes everything. I'm assuming it has all that armor due to it having to follow the regular rules right? You should test with some ships of your own design. I'll be on the military team since they failed so miserably last time. I'm assuming that the pirates get two less ships right?

However a few observations: Against that thing you will HAVE to have frontal aegis. The new weapon rules makes reliable aegis busting impossible. Blasters lose alot of thier awesomeness.

I think I can kill the Jug with one ship though, its not too hard to kill behemoths like that if you know what you're doing :D.

Apparently we can't put weapons inside our ship. They have to be dangling precariously.
