Okay, here's what I've got so far... just drafts mainly, since I've got no tournament experience:

I'll tweak some stats before putting things up for DL. And no, I don't want to resort to using the lancet ship either.

Good, because that many lancets is illegal. They're limited to two/ship.

my first ship:

all the gats are dusk, and the blasters are twin cannons.

Whoops, missed that stipulation. Thanks.

Looks pretty good - are the Section 01's on the back ablatives? Also, maybe bring the 17 in the center back or push the 26s forward, thus making it a pain to get shots through the shield-wall.

sec 01's are needed to meet my quota for aegis shielding, plus they protect the lancets a bit.

we need something to take out that neon fucker, too. Tachyons maybe?

I ran a quick test (three stacked 22s, the innermost one shielding the middle).

The custom Light Railcannons stripped through it with relative ease; as soon as the first section was blown off the next hits splashed through and dropped the shields very rapidly.

I'll try to whip up a Railgunner and test against ships with better health to back up the Aegis coverage.

Edit:

Whipped up this guy:

Both your Aegis sections cover more than 90 degrees as measured from the core, you need to move them outwards or angle them.

Thanks Jafo, I shouldn't have missed that.

Whipped up a Tachyon Battleship:

Hopefully the Aegis angles are alright.

Operation "rush in and form a wall" - GO!

Never know, could work. It can wall itself off with Deflectors, and it's got good speed & turning to keep it's nose to the enemy.

Better?

(Exactly 10 degrees between Aegis shields, and each covers 88-89 degrees, as measured from the core. It's legal, BITCHES! )

except all of your aegis (unless the center piece isn't one?) can't cover a side. those three cover well over a continuous 90 degrees...

It has come to my attention that BoVinE is a freaking genius.

ITT I rip him off shamelessly :

Having added Point Defense after taking that screenshot, I've got 16 points left for weapons. It's a Battleship, so it's durable as all hell.

To shave points, I could drop some of the movement stats - currently 0.05 Accel, 1.00 Speed, 0.96 Turning.

Thoughts? I gave it Lancets so it will continue pinging off enemy weapons till the bitter end.

I also thought of moving the Lancets to the rear Aegis'd sections for Tachyon/Railgun protection.

Tangent - Iron Ham, that ship looks great. Interested to see how she performs.
