If boxy were a boss in this competition, he'd destroy every team, which is why the Burst Out is kind of scary.

ASM, I've only found two ways to beat boxy with 8 100 point ships: kamikaze and tachyon spammers. Are there any other decent ways?

And wow, my ship lived till the end? O_o

ASM, BoxOGuns works just fine! (as illustrated by this battle). It probably was the single ship that did the most damage (my plasmas kept missing).
There's true, its really the only TANK tank, not a tank artillery ship like the rocket whore(no focussed damage) or the plasma boats(high interceptability). I think the main problem for our fleet will be fighting overtly strong ships like this one.

That being said, none of our ships have normal AI so the station really screwed us up with its constant turning.

@Half There

Small sections, lots of deflectors is the easiest way to win. Weapon-wise, tachs work the best.

Hege wrote:Also, about Team Alpha.. Has there been any word of Ai or are you gona just fuse Team Alpha and Delta?
Ai dropped out. It's possible I could merge Delta as is, but two of the ships listed under Team Alpha have question marks at the ends of their names. That means those ships were not submitted to me, and I'd instead dug them out of Alpha's discussion thread and put them there as placeholders. As such, they're unlikely to be final designs.

There's a gun right on the top of the core besides the missiles; the single orange Blaster bolt that the SA shoots. Sitting on top of that would've been painful. :P

So, The submissions are in PM form?

Team Beta gets a lucky break. The first recording of this match had them wiped out by the boss, but the recording was screwed up so I had to rerun it, and this is the result:

(Yeah I know it's out of order. I'll run the Berdysz next.)

TEAM ALPHA/DELTA:

The teams will be merged. Venator, please choose a single ship which you would prefer as your submission.

Also, team, choose from one of the following ships to fill the final slot:

(If you choose the Firehawk or Fist, I can refine the design somewhat.)

I don't know why Boxale keeps losing Aegis...

Guh, hard choice... if people from Alpha would like to give me some input (as well as my own team, of course).

Venator, I'd use your Scorpion-Boxale ripoff.
Then take the Larva (or refine the Fist)

Done, I'll use the "BRT - Aegis Lancet Battleship" then (pretty to-the-point nomenclature, eh? :P).

Heh, not necessarily. We may have dodged a fluke win by the boss instead!

Unless you run a match-up several times from the same encounter file, you don't know if it is a standard run or a fluke run when watching just one battle.

Anyways, here's to another victory!

Very true, very true.

I pick the Larva, not just because I made it but because the Fist has WAY too close an AI range and weird proportions, and I know from testing that the firehawk is too vulnerable.

I'd also like to complement mtheninja. The plea for death is an almost stupidly good ship, and demonstrates the untapped might of deflectors. It's genius, pure and simple. The Abalone has a lot of shortcoming by comparison.

I think that Kenshin's old Bullette and Obfusication III from the last Fireborne tournies were the best deflector whore ships. Though I do have a good one in Zancloufer's which probably is never going to start.

I have to say, I'd go with Larva too.

Also, I'm gona be intrested to see how Team Beta will do against the neon light illusion..
