You have failed me, citizens. You shall pay the price.elecboy wrote:Pentagus-X dead!?!?!
I refuse to acknowlege it
Which ship was the Pegasus-X, anyway?
At the minimum, I am heartened by the fact that our ships are capable of cleaning yours out, with or without the Badger's omnipotent help.

Well, gathering from the fact that the Mastermind was . . . er, . . . vaporized immediately, and the Badger was immediately distracted by some ship in the corner, and our ships got the upper hand in an even battle between the remaining ships on the top half of the screen (until the Badger walking in and blew everything else up), I'm taking the conclusion that ours are capable of winning in escort vs escort. That may change in more experimentally accurate circumstances (and with more accurate placement of the Mastermind), so I'll add it to the list of things to test at home.elecboy wrote:You tested without motherships?
[Edit:] Do keep in mind that I am shooting in the dark here based on the pics I took and some testing I got done before I had to leave. I give no guarantees.

It's not explicitly prohibited by the rules, so I'm allowing it. I was asked about it beforehand and I don't see a problem with it as such.ChaosTheory wrote:But just as a point of reference, Daxx, I don't think it should be legal to let a ship start with part of itself leaning onto the other side of the field. Specifically, you mentioned that ships could not overlap in the starting formation . . . that should apply to ships form both sides . .
That ship shows some serious ingenuity.

I still say mine was better. It could actually fight. It wasn't the epic turtle that you see there and wasn't a liability to OUR fast ships.
I'll post the 2 motherships I made so as not to give away M's troll ship:
http://files.filefront.com/Boxy2shp/;10 ... einfo.html
http://files.filefront.com/Trilobite+2s ... einfo.html
Feel free to test them with our current array of ships that are specialized to work with Mastermind.
I also had an epic beam ship that I didn't get finished.

Don’t worry it has airbags.

Yes. HAVE TEH SHIPS.

The Badger is a block of lasers. Not much to copy, except possibly the aegis shields to deflect tachyons (*cough*).
Testing reveals that I am probably right with my Mastermind assessment. Unfortunately for you guys, I put the Mastermind and Badger in optimal position, and the Badger attacks . . . and . . . the Mastermind's pieces fly away from the rest of the ships. Nice. Negative function, right there.
Without motherships, the escorts are *fairly* evenly matched. The damn stupid AI played more of a part on both sides than anything else, actually. th15 needs to put some sort of script in where the ship turns to attack the ship that's beating it to pieces instead of the heavily armored brick in front of it. The AI has no I.

ATTENTION STINKY TEAM ALPHA
You might have won the test rounds but you shall not prevail.
*AHEM*
Just for fun, I ran your fleet against a sole Boxy2 seeing that Boxy could basically 4shot spank Badger V into oblivion without loss of anything. I didn't expect to win so I was quite surprised when BOXY TOOK DOWN YOUR WHOLE STINKIN FLEET*.
Who could have guessed that with only the power of rectangularity would it triumph over a fleet with twice the point total.
Kuddos to Valor for dying last in all my testing.
*Assuming that the PB bug doesn't show up.

Interesting.
I had originally considered missiles for the Shadowbot, but discarded them in the face of a few flak. Obviously it was better than I thought.
My congrats.
I am, however, very proud of my Valor, which actually came within about 200 hp of beating the Boxy by smacking the thing straight in the core.
What we learn form these "mothership" and "command ship" tourneys is Which weapon can I most effectively spam today?
I think we should go back to the 1 vs 1 tourneys for the sake of novelty.
