Motherships Tournament ##Judging in Progress##
Moderators: th15, Moderators
Entries closed. I'll be judging as soon as possible.
Edit: I have 7 ships from Alpha, 8 ships from Beta and 2 ships from Gamma.
I'll be going through these to check their legality, and then hopefully I can get things underway soon.
EDIT2:
Alpha's ships are all legal. Rotatron had one default HP error which I have corrected.

Fairly soon.
I guess I should have updated this sooner, but I'm having a little trouble getting enough straight time for BSF to judge the entries this week. My girlfriend has just moved in and we're in the middle of sorting all of her stuff out, as well as trying to sort things for the summer.
I'll get them judged as soon as I can. I haven't forgotten, don't worry.

If you want.
Apologies for ongoing delays. First I had my gf temporarily move in before she left for Spain, now I'm heading back home. Look for updates to this in the next couple of days (providing my internet back there is still working). In the meantime you're quite free to share your ships.

EPIC Loooooooooooooooooool.
Alpha versus Beta: Battle El Hilarious, A Pictorial Conquest
Warning: Heavy Picture Overload
WTF!?!?!?!?!? GAH!!!
Oh wait. WEAK POINT >>> ATTACK FOR MASSIVE DAMAGE!!!
(Am I to guess at this point that the "notches" in the back of the Mastermind are there to prevent this more-than-probable cloud of debris from wiping out of the rest of the fleet?)
Debris. That is the legacy of the Mastermind . . . Team Beta gathers steam and forges onward.
The battle splits into two skirmishes.
The Badger V plows through a ship like butter.
Jafo's BadgerBuddy and my Valor tag up and smack down a few unlucky ships.
The Blight distracts Alpha's ships while Beta regroups for a second charge.
BadgerBuddy and Valor lay down some more pain, and the Hatpin goes in for the kill.
The BadgerBuddy is ruthlessly backstabbed by the Rotatron, while the Valor and Hatpin are blocked from assisting.
But vengeance is swift. Seeing its fallen buddy, the Badger swings around and drills into the Rotatron. The Blight is still doing its apparently alluring dance, because most of team Alpha is distracted.
Beta cleans up.
The Badger V is able to do complete repairs and walks away with no serious injury. The Hatpin has the slightest of scratches, and the Valor, I'm proud to say, walked away unscathed (seriously - it took 0 damage, but killed 2 ships). The Blight IVY and Messer MKIII are still in pretty good condition, while the Omnom barely escapes with its life.
Good work, soldiers of Beta.

Seriously, what is the point of the Mastermind? It seems like a serious liability.

Team Alpha's plans appear to be more successful than I thought they would be. Even with our schematics and simulation data, Team Beta does not see the doom awaiting them. Daxx, prepare to reveal the firepower of this fully armed and operational Mastermind!
But enough weirdness. Can we have your fleet to see if you even stand a chance?

I sure as hell hope the Mastermind has a purpose. I'll figure it out when I get back on my computer with BSF, I only had time to test the thing once.
But considering how epically hilarious it was to watch to the Mastermind get taken down by the BadgerBuddy's tachyons (not even the Badger itself), I am going to hold you up to high standards.
So, as a preliminary attempt to make some sense of the damn thing without the blueprints of it, I'm going to guess that the Mastermind is in fact designed to be placed backwards on the battlefield, extending its fragile arm over the weapons of the opposing MS, at which point the enemy MS will destroy the arm and send the hundreds of sections in that hammer thing raining down on the enemy ships, while the actual ship flings tachyons at the opposing MS? Right?
And moreover, is that even legal to have the ship facing backwards?
If that's the case, team Beta has something to be hopeful for again, because I specifically (and thankfully) requested Daxx to place our ships in a pretty wide arc behind the Badger (on a 5000x5000 field, what I was envisioning would put all our ships except the BadgerBuddy safely behind the hammer of the Mastermind, just like I started Alpha's ships in my initial test) . . . although you'll note I put our ships much closer in because I'm just that lazy :/
And I'm sorry, but I can't give out our ships at the moment. I'm both on the wrong computer and I don't think I have the latest versions of all our ships (some were sent to Daxx separately). I can certainly give out the ships I used to test tomorrow when I have access to my desktop.

Do note the name Mastermind.
If it capitalizes on the game function I think it does, the massive hammer does indeed serve a purpose. However, I shall hold my piece. If I'm right, though, placing your ships in a wide arc will do nothing to hinder its main purpose
Well, I have a guess at best
The Mastermind does look epic though

Even if the thing acts as a kamikaze and flings pieces backwards, I think that having all the ships situated at the edge of the battlefield will be protection enough, from testing. We shall see. At minimum, it will only take out 2-3 ships if they are spaced evenly along the arc.
But just as a point of reference, Daxx, I don't think it should be legal to let a ship start with part of itself leaning onto the other side of the field. Specifically, you mentioned that ships could not overlap in the starting formation . . . that should apply to ships form both sides . . .
Anyway, I'm just musing to myself, and I'm in curious doubt that my idea is correct. I'm hoping your idea is a little more creative than blowing up your MS. Hopefully something fun involving swinging that giant hammer around in a circle or something dramatic like that.
I'm intrigued. The suspense until I can access the Mastermind again is killing me. Kind of.
