But only for sections. Shots will pass through sections, strike weapons, and blow off your core before anything else. but only if core and weapons can't be scaled, which I assume.Mjolnir wrote:ChaosTheory wrote: 3) Unlimited down-scaling, but only 4 up-scales and each up-scale requires a down-scale in the other direction.
Only problem with this, is that if you make the ship as small as possible, its nigh on impossible to hit, especially without beam weapons.

Calm down people, it'll be at least a week before this tourney's rules are even finished, and then another to get the tourney started.
However, I cannot say if I will totally ban aegis. This being an aesthetics competition as well as a combat competition serves to be quite a problem, as far as for rule-building. I very often use Aegis in my designs, so I know what it'd be like not to have access to aegis.
I am also working on scaling methods. However, I cannot impose any hard limits without also hindering the aesthetics part.

Ah, I've come up with an idea.
Aegis will have to be taken off during ship combat. However, aegis will be made somewhat cheap.

Can we have free shunken boosters(pretty much invisible) if the section they are boosting has no modules?Comus wrote:If it's just using Aegis for the glow effect, why not just use recolored boosters, instead?Normandy wrote:Ah, I've come up with an idea.

The two effects are different. Boosters are more solid. Aegis are more blurry and shimmery.Comus wrote:If it's just using Aegis for the glow effect, why not just use recolored boosters, instead?Normandy wrote:Ah, I've come up with an idea.

Actually, if you've ever looked at Lizzie's ships, its fairly easy to make the weapons not be obtrusive and actually ad to the overall design. I don't think there'd be a point in Minimizing the amount of weapons, since these are supposed to be battle ready, and what Admiral would concentrate all their power into a single target, when several others would do, and be harder to destroy?antisocialmunky wrote: Its going to be difficult to make a pretty ship if its covered with weapons so I'm proposing this.
I feel the need to gloat, and the fact that this fleet has been in production for weeks and can have a purpose outside its faction war overjoys me.

Sounds good. Did he say how many ships we would have for each fleet, or is it up to the player?antisocialmunky wrote:True, but I still rather have a 100% clean look. :-\
@CT, if we make a fleet, then naturally we will have ships with differing points. Perhaps we should have a 100 point flag ship and 300 points for the rest of the fleet?
