First off, sorry to Mjolnir, I had no idea someone else was working on an Ork Encounter.
Anyway, this is my first encounter, and I can probably tweak things here and there to make it more challenging or balanced.

The basic story goes that an Ork Gargant has drifted dangerously close to Imperial space with a retinue of Fightas, Bommas, and an Orky Fort. A lone Eldar ship has also been sighted in the area, but its intentions are unclear.
In lieu of more accurate Warhammer Imperium ships, some fighters I've made previously as well as two ships from my Defender Fleet are the last hope for the Imperial system.
Unfortunately having the Gargant and the Dominion (My two most complicated ships yet) on the same screen may get a bit laggy. It's still playable for me though.
Take a look and tell me what you think.
Kill Da Gargant!

that was pretty epic...
the ships are awesome, really huge. and yes it got quite laggy but remained playable for the most part.
the allied ship seemed to draw most of the attention from the orcs so that allowed my ships to pound the enemy without getting much return fire.
so the explosions were pretty sweet. at one point i blew a big chunk of the gargant and there was so much debris drifting in front of it that for a while i couldnt get many shots thru, heh.
one thing i wish it had is descriptions for the ships. just a little extra polish there

Is the Eldar ship the allied one? Because it helped me out for the most part then when Da Gargant jumped in right on top of my Defender the allied ship was right there and it was firing away and my reinforcements were clear across the board. Then the allied ship drifted away to the bottom of the board where it stayed and my Defender was crushed by the Gargant then my reinforcements got within range and mopped everything up.Exethalion wrote:The Eldar ship floated around uselessly most of the time. Other than that it was an epic mission!

This is well balanced for intermediate players, I appreciate that it's not one of those missions where you have to learn a special trick in order to succeed, it's quite straightforward and if you use your forces wisely you'll win.
I never felt at risk of losing either of my capital ships, I think the Gargant and the Dominion were a bit too evenly matched. With the Defender on station as well they were able to suppress the Gargant's fire and it just became a matter of time before it went down.
It was just tough enough to be satisfying though, so it's great as an intermediate encounter to build a player's confidence.
