have to redesign my ship.
probably will be either a railgun and deflector tank or a mega-tech platform.

After some tests last night, I've decided to go with the original Super Companion Cube design. Because the thing is far better than the second version.

Example of my kinda pulsar user. Better defense then my orignal, without givin up lancets or a good amount of pulsars (11)

Funny tac producer, with lancets. Kinda fragile due to it being a frigate, but has a 1000 hp aegis section on the front. Uses the new updated rules, and is legit by the standard set by the one aegis design I have previously submitted. Not all that bad, but not all that great. It can be improved, feel free to do so heres the link.

Link to one of my ideas, I decided to go with my teamates ideas for now instead of my own. Semi close tac user, decent Aegis protection and flak. Not the best, but its a start. I'm probably going with a differnt idea, but if you like this let me know for now. Could also go with a one aegis version of this, switch around a few things, and add more firepower if needed. Again I have better ideas, but I just wanted to see if this was good enough for starts.

One of my shadier ideas, stay back and pummel type. Very good at distracting PD, and fires from extreme ranges.

Jump ship. Add 16 gatling pulses instead?

If it ain't broke, then don't try to fix it

working on a missile barge with three Aegis segments. Expensive, but effective.

I've got my first serious attempt hosted on Mediafire. Most of the stats aren't in there yet (AI range, speed, turning, etc.) but the layout shouldn't consume any more than ~70 points so I should be okay.

Anyways, it can beat Nagaya 2 with moderate hull damage, which is pretty damn incredible when you take into account I didn't spend those other thirty points yet.

Sorry for the late entry, a bit busy yesterday.

(Too lazy to post screenie)

It's a very dense, compact ship - only 6 sections. It's slow, but it can put out quite a lot of blaster fire.

2x Blaster
2x GatBlaster
2x QuadBlaster
2x Particle Gun
1x Point Beam
1x Nano Matrix

tl;dr-ers will be shot on sight.

You may want to redesign portions of your ship - mine, which is twenty points from completion, can still take it and win.

Scatter beams seem the best weapons for the price, and could be retrofitted onto your design quite easily. Oh, and deflectors would work wonders.

Edit : Here's a quick pic of Normandy's.

Bah, I'm against deflectors.

How did you beat my ship so fast? It took 40 gat-pulses somewhere around 40 seconds to destroy the ship.

Scatterbeams :D. Plus I think that, for some reason, my point beams are shooting at sections now - but I can't be certain.

Well, you don't do 7700 damage in a few seconds, so I do believe that may be the problem...

I was expecting railguns and tachyons, personally.

I've removed the point beams and replaced them with scatters (for the time being). Lets see if that makes a huge difference ...

Edit: Oookay, huge difference - not to mention that flanking AI is broken in this version. My ship just stops in front of yours without attempting to go for the flank. I'll downgrade to .86 or .87 and see if that makes a difference.

Egad, flanking!

Well, my statements don't hold true if you go for flanking, it's armor is all concentrated on the front.

But then again I'm laying my hopes that JaffaJoke's Suicidal GatPulse ship will distract attention.

I've redesigned my ship and they've been at a stand-still for over five minutes now.

Fun stuff.

I took your advice and added some lancets ... as well as some megabeams. In theory, this should help out a fair bit :).

Honestly the only time I could ever see Normal AI being useful would be if you were facing a Broadside ship. But with Broadside AI being wonky I just don't see the advantage. Flanking you're still nose-first, but you're more of a moving target.

Broadside is only wonky in .88, as is Flanking and likely Kamikaze as well. In any case, the tournament is probably going to use .87 anyways.
