Alright, I've got the idea out for my ship.

Basically, it's an armored sphere, with lots of gatling pulses. The idea is to use a dieterling device to blink on top on the enemy ship, deflectors activate, and then watch the pulses tear the ship apart.

I was thinking maybe to replace the pulses with goslings... still thinking about it.

GatBlasters cost the same as Beamers, so I don't need to change anything. The HBP (Heavy Blaster Platform) Pummeler can beat the Vindicator with only minor damage. (Although this may have something to do with deflector AI :P )

I would have posted a download but the database appears to be broken again. (Another hacker? :evil: )

I've decided to go with a cruiser, but I haven't had time to get the basic chassis design yet.

Well, here's a preliminary design... it's basically a flak tank. I was a biy overenthusiastic with the dodads, so I called it the Mosaic... :)

Sections and engines:

1.5 speed: 10 points

0.10 accel: 5 points

0.7 turn: 10 points

13 sections: 13 points

7 points of HP increases

40 points on sections and engines


Weapons and modules:

2 ageis deflectors: 16 points

22 flak guns: 44 points

60 points on weapons and modules


100 points total

Flak whore should have some point beams for the rails.

Oh, right, I hadn't thought of that... what ratio of beams to flaks should I use? 1:3? 1:2? 1:1? 2:1? What?

I would probably go for 10 point beams, 6 particle guns and 6 flaks.

Doesn't seem like anyones using this rule to its fullest effect. My ship ideas overlap there modules 50 percent. Many advantages to doing this, especially with lancets.

The only thing I can think of is to overlap your lancets abit, so they fire together to reap more damage. Having the two seperated makes them far less effective. The closer they are to each other, the better they take out stuff in general.

I really don't like the idea of having a all defense ship on the team, though it looks nicely built. Maybe kill half of the defense, for good cheap offense. But its upto the rest of our team to decide if having a all defense ship is a good idea. I vote no however, we need all the offense we can get.

@DarkenShroud: I'll take that into consideration . . . and you really should at least show somebody on our team your ship before you submit it . . . can you PM it to someone who is on oyur team here and in the other tourney?

@CaptainTrek: Take osme flak off, put some weapons on, (tachyon drivers?) and use a 3:3:5 PB/PG/Flak ratio. Looks goo otherwise. does it comply with the Aegis rules about not covering an entire side?

Yup! I'm kinda surprised more people haven't been using aegis, compared to last tourney when better than every second ship had it...
