so long as the weapon/modules are sitting on the exposed part and not the section sitting on the core, then yes you can parent weapon/modules to the core.

This ship is now my submission. Still not the final, though.

Don’t worry it has airbags.

Sections that are aegis-ized can't be stretched. If you want to shrink them, that's your call (though I can't, for the life of me, see why you'd want to)

Also, it can't be more than 90 degrees from the core.

Shields
Deflectors are restricted to one per three sections and Aegis are restricted to one per six sections. Aegis'd sections may not cover more than 90 degrees when measured from the core. A ship may not have both deflectors and aegis.
An Aegis Shield may not completely cover one side of attack.
*important* Aegis'd sections must have at least 10 degrees of space when measured from the core, between them.
nvm. I can jsut switch them to 26 I guess. I was more curious about the 90 degree thing and the gap.

@ Natch, I asked him a few pages ago. The 90 degree rule applies to only one Aegis. If you take the Aegis glow off and measure form the core. Its pretty much 90 degrees as far as I can tell.
Does 90 degrees apply to TOTAL aegised sections to ONLY ONE?

Refers to only one. This rule kinda got ignored in the last tourney, so that's kinda why I added the 'must have a gap between sections' rule.

yeah, my explanation on that one kinda sucked - I must have had an exam on my mind or something.

The 90 degree rule applies only to each individual section that's influenced by an aegis. This is so you basically can't use a section 26 right ontop of your core.

Here is what I see in the Mothership, nearest I can tell: http://www.mediafire.com/?8kxyxt2yyid

It probably is a little bigger than the real mothership in the center there. I guessed with a few modules and what is hidden by the scaffolding. It beats Team Beta from the last tournament, so it passes the test "is it harder than the last mothership" I didnt keep track of points either.

CRAP that's awesome! Thanks Wizard! :D

Can you release a flanking version since that's the AI that the last one used?

Ok. :)

http://www.mediafire.com/?cd2vpmvyrjc

EDIT: After tabulating all the points:

Weapons/Modules/PD:470
Speed/Manueverability:69
Core HP: 30
Section HP boost: 315

Total:884

So it might be a little bit tougher than the Mothership. :D
For section HP I assumed that the average HP for all sections was 2000.

I know we're not allowed to make a firing arc bigger but can we shrink it?

Why the heck would you want to do that?

Code: Select all

Logic Error EBz2210; System shutdown initiated.

If you place railguns on a fast long range frigate, having them turn a lot to track their target is impractical, since their tracking is so slow. I find it better in such a case to reduce the arc by half and increasing the turning rate of the ship means that it will fire less often, but it will only fire when it has a clean shot. Too often when the arc is default will it fire its rails only to miss, then when it has a perfect target, it doesn't fire because it is still in its reload time. Decreasing the arc can help this a bit.
