The third custom ships tournament will be a fleet tournament. Trust me, they are much more fun than 1 v 1s.
This thread covers voting for ideas brought up in the ideas thread.
Based on the results of this thread and the previous one, I've updated the rules. Please read and discuss, particularly the point values.
Base rules
First step:
-Choose a ship class.
Battleship: Slow, but large and strong
Cruiser: The middle-ground between frigate and battleship
Frigate: Small and fragile, but agile

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your ship starts off with these stats
Base Stats-|--Battleship---|----Cruiser----|----Frigate----|
Core HP |----- 500 -----|----- 400 -----|----- 300 -----| (Appears as Base HP)
Section HP |----- 200 -----|----- 150 -----|----- 100 -----| (Set every section to this HP)
Max Speed |------ 0 ------|------ 0 ------|------ 0 ------|
Accelerate |------ 0 ------|------ 0 ------|------ 0 ------|
Turning |------ 0 ------|------ 0 ------|------ 0 ------|
For every point you spend, add this much to those stats
Add Stats--|--Battleship---|----Cruiser----|----Frigate----|
Core HP Add|----- 50 ------|----- 25 ------|----- 10 ------|
Sec. HP Add|----- 250 -----|----- 200 -----|----- 150 -----| (On one section, not all of them)
Max Speed |----- 0.10 ----|----- 0.15 ----|----- 0.20 ----|
Accelerate |----- 0.01 ----|----- 0.02 ----|----- 0.05 ----|
Turning |----- 0.08 ----|----- 0.14 ----|----- 0.20 ----|
How much adding a section costs (Read / as for)
Sections--|--Battleship---|----Cruiser----|----Frigate----|
Cost------|-- 1 point/2 --|-- 1 point/1 --|-- 2 points/1 -|

AI:
-Any AI and range may be chosen.
The Core:
-May be covered by other sections.
-Weapons or modules cannot be connected off the core.
-Cannot be small, civilian, or defense platform core.
Shields:
-Aegis shields are banned
-Deflector shields are allowed, but restricted to 1 Deflector Shield per 3 sections
Sections:
-Sections can be scaled three times in each direction, either larger or smaller.
-The only exception to the above rule is Section 26, which may only be made smaller.
-Parenting between sections must be logical.
-Sections may overlap other sections within reason. No more than 25% can be covered by another section.
Weapons and Modules:
-Limited to 3 per section
-Weapons and modules must rest, without overlapping, on its parent section. (This does not mean all the pixels of the weapon\module have to be on the parent section, just that where it sits should be on its parent section)
-Weapons and modules may touch, and may cover the section, but again, may not overlap.
-The arc of the weapon can be set from 0 to 135 degrees.

Aegis?: No. use Deflectors Exposed Cores? No. Most really small ships cover core. 300 points? Yes Arcs? Yes 2 per section? No. As many as you can fit with no overlap
No to aegis, there isn't enough variety in the way you use it for aegis to be fun, people just cover their front. Yes for deflectors.
Core doesn't have to be exposed, because exposing the core is unrealistic in terms of ship design.
300 point, yes, maximum 100 points per ship or something.
Arcs, default. Make the spinning blaster more expensive because it has full arc.
2 module/weapons per section? Yes, to simulate weapons and modules taking up internal space.
2 sections per section? I'd say three, because I want to build ships that have a spinal section which connects to 1 more section on each side, and one more at the front.
Aegises
hmmm... if you can find a good way of limiting them..then yes. If you can't then No.
YES on deflectors.
Exposed core
doesn't matter to me. I'd say let people cover them. So I vote NO.
300 points
YES
Arcs
YES. But make people pay for increased arcs..double the arc, pay 1 point, triple it, pay 2 points. But it still has to be cheaper than 2 guns.
2 per section
NO. Make it 3.

Exposed Cores? No. Let the masses cover there cores.
300 points? Yes, But what do you mean by this.
CmdPrompt wrote:1a. Each ship in the tournament cannot be less than 20 points or more than 100 points.
Arcs? My vote is Yes to Ajustable Weapon arc, do to the fact that this is a custom tournament, and that currently we cannot make custom weapons (yet).Probaly a point set-up like 1 point/5 degrees would be sufficient. Or, we can go for a fixed Ajustible arc like in the Salvage Tournement, like 0 - 100 degrees max.
2 per section? No. Make 2-3 pixel spacing required between weapons, and no overlaping.
Additional Suggestions:If it is Possible, formulate a point system for customizable weapons.
He means that none of your ship can cost more than 100 points and less than 20. This is a fleet battle. you get 300 points to spend on a fleet.
1 point for 5°???
A 180° gun would cost as much as a whole ship!!

!@#$%^%^^&&* no to aegis, deflectors are slick though (yes to deflectors, no to aegis)
Yes to covered cores, why would you make a ship with a exposed core in the first place, cores are supposed to be inside the ship, not exposed on her surface.
300 points is great, any limit to how many ships we can create? (thinks there will be many people making mass ships, using as little points as possible when doing so.)
Maybe make it 6 ships max per fleet, to avoid spammer ships or 15 - 20 point ships who really can't lose due to simply overwhelming there oppoents with sheer numbers.
Fixed arcs will be fine for this one, since it is a fleet tourney. One on one really needs 180 arcs to be a fast paced match in alot of circumstances. But a fleet tourney does not need expanded arcs to much because of the amount of ships that can focus there fire in general. Plus it will save time customing all our ships firing arcs.
Two per section is alittle to restrictive, maybe make it 4 per section instead, I do believe there should be a limit as to the number of weapons and modules per section to keep people honest, and to make us think more, instead of simply placing all our stuff on the back of our designs.
Only additional suggestions I have is the limiting of the weapons and modules to 4 per section total combined and limiting the amount of ships per fleet to maybe 6.

There is no 2 sections per section rule, any number is allowed. Logical parenting still applies though.
Yeah adapt the scaling rules of the tourney set up here from these forums, sections may be changed 3 larger or 3 smaller only, both vertically or horizontily. Otherwise your left with people who use extended sections in ways that are super shady. 3 larger or smaller keep things to a responsible size.
