Wrong question. Who do you think is going to get second place?
Stupid people don't learn from their mistakes. Smart people do learn from thier mistakes.
The smartest people of all learn from the mistakes of others.
Problem is, I wouldn't be surprised if CmdPrompt had planned to do a knock-out style tournament, since that's what was custom at the Penny Arcade Forum (well, the first forum he was exposed to BSF on).
16 -> 8 -> 4 -> 2 -> 1
12 -> 6 -> ?3?
If it's going to be a 16 fleet Round-Robin, that's 120 battles. And that's allowing for a single battle every match-up. Not best out of three. That's 240-360 battles, which is far out of the question.
If it's going to be a 12 fleet Round-Robin, that's 66 battles, again allowing for a single battle every match-up, not best out of three. That's 132-168 battles, slightly better, but still a heavy load.
I vote for a 3-man Round Robin preliminary followed by a knock-out tournament (if we have 12 fleets), or a 4-man Round Robin preliminary followed by a knock-out tournament (if we have 16 fleets).
That's either 30-45 battles (for 12 fleets), or 54-81 battles (for 16 fleets), best out of three.

Although now that I think about it, we'll do a 4 round swiss followed by 4 man playoffs most likely.
I think its called swiss at least, where people with similar win-loss records play each other.
I'm not able to access any of the ships hosted on Mediafire.
If those of you who hosted them there could either rehost them or check if you can download it I'd appreciate it. I don't know why mines failing to download.
